Check Engine light

The car is K11 automatic(CVT),X reg(2000),engine 1.4 CGA3DE.
Yesterday for first time the MIL does not come off after start the engine.I made some tests and the result is-after any start(cold/warm),the lamp remain on for about 3min and then off.No problems with idling and running at any time but I would like to sort it out...
The diagnostic socket is OBD2 shape but I am not sure if the car is OBD2 compatible. I need to know because I would like to buy from eBay a diagnostic device.
So,my questions are:
1.How to know if the car is OBD2?
2.Do anybody can recommend me a reliable diagnostic tool for reeding the error codes and reset them?

as said before it is odb2, i brought one of these things from ebay 2 years ago for 30 quid and its been great. you might need to google the error codes but as its obd2 they are all standard.

Yes, I want to know what kind it is because OBD2 could uses different protocol-CAN,ISO...and I don't know which one is the right one...
If somebody knows which protocol uses Micra's OBD2,please let me know.
I found some devices but I don't know which one to chose...I asked the sellers but they are not sure if the particular device works for Micra.

i can tell you its definatly not CAN, the K12 micras use CAN-Bus i think. I am pretty sure its ISO.

I think the yellow one would definatly do it but to be honest any of the 3 should do.

that is exactly the same as the one I got, but I got mine off ebay somewhere for abit cheaper.
