Changing Rear Shock absorber

does anyone know how to change the rear shock absorbers. and does left and right mater or can you put them anywer?

as far as i can remember yes it does matter, because of the shape of the absorber for the spring! Its a relativly easy job if you have the right tools!

Jack the car up, theres a bit in the middle of the car at the rear i used to jack mine up this way both wheels are off the ground.

Unscrew shock at the top (in the boot)

Unbolt shock at the bottom

clean up the spring

replace with new shock

**Do not** touch the piston with any tools what so ever, any scratches on the piston will burst the seal and wreck the shocky!

I still haven't fitted it cos i'm not sure it was safe.

The shocks don't have to go on a particular side, you just get rear shocks and front shocks.

oh yes. i got them changed ok but the bolt at the bottom was too stif and rusted so had to saw it off. but i got it sorted now thanks.

and also james my shock was not off centre like that at all. it was staright.
