changing ignition barrel and door locks

i would like to know if u can change the ignition barrel on k11s to the keycode barrel system later k11s have, imbolliser style ones, can this be done and how much work would be involved! or any1 know how much a basic immobilser will be?

want to know because i managed to open the friends fiat brava door with my key, and turned his ignition barrel the crank but the engine wouldnt start because of his keycode system! he also opened my door and started my engine with his key! a nissan cherry key opened my car started it to!

so makes me wonder how many people could just walk into my car using there keys and drive off!

cheers for any help

i made an imobaliser which i don't like to post about but it's really easy to do,

i wont tell you exactly how i did it but if you find a vital wire to the ECU, cut it and run the wires to a concealed switch then only people who realise that you have to switch the switch will be able to start the car.

put the switch somwhere were nobody can see. it even fools proper tech guys, like the ones who tried to MOT my car....

it's cheap and fools most dumbass chavs that want to steal your car...

you really want to use random wires so that nobody knows which wires they have to hotwire,

ah i c, on my old escort that was nicked it had a secret button u ad to press when the ignition was turned to crank to start it, but they must of found that button!

To change over you will need the Keys, Barrel, locks and ecu out of a later spec car, i recommend the mk2-3 k11 (96-99) as these had NATS 1. You will also need some of the wiring to be able to connect the NATS wires from the barrel to the ECU.

Dont get the NATS system off a mk4 (00-02) k11 as the ECU's are Bosch Motronic and will not support the dizzy on your car.

Make sure you get these off a reputable breakers and that you get all the keys. Also Nissan charge around £120 a key if i remember correctly for replacements but these will only be made with the corresponding VIN number.

The only other way is to get a decent CAT 1 alarm fitted that will cut out the ignition and fuel pump.

Good luck

id reckon just get a decent cat1 alarm / immobiliser fitted and if your cars got it, youll get remote central locking at the same time.

ermmm.. seen a decent alarm on ebay, mite bid later! it says it has as a immobiliser so that mite do. any alarm is better then my poo argos alarm,

i would like the phoenix nights car alarm, get back u bar-stewards....
