Car Will Not Start

Evening,

Ok, at work the other day, got in my car at 4 O'clock to have a cigarette, started engine, moved it forward to get the radio to work (lol), turned engine off, go back in office.

5 o' clock, get in car, will not start. Got recovered to home at 11. Mechanic / driver said I should replace spark plugs as they were carbonised, and replace rotar arm in distributor.

Well, I have done this, I have a spark, All leads were replaced correctly, There is a 1/4 tank of petrol, the engine will turn, and fire once or twice but simply will not start.

Now, my old man says I should start looking at fuel, by getting to the carb, checking if fuel is flowing through fuel pipe.

Before I start doing this, does anyone have any other suggestions.

Cheers,

Jonny

lol had the same problem after fitting throttle body, fuel pump, arm rotor then still had the fault. Then the mechanic found out it was a distrubuter which can get chroded. After fixing that i was back on the road again. Hope this helps

Ok guys here's what I did to fix it :grinning:

I removed the fuel pump fuse, turned the engine a few times.

My battery was dying so I hooked it up to my dads car, same again, no result.

I then replaced the fuse, turned the engine, and kept the acceleration pedal pressed right down.

Woohooo! Engine starts, a very happy micra driver.

Just been round the block a few times, works a treat.

Seems the engine was flooded through moving it about 10cm (so don't do it!)

Cheers guys for all your help!

Jonny
