Buying a K11 advice.

Hi Guys, I'm looking at getting a k11 micra for my young sister.

She has been looking at a year 2000 1.3 SI.

I was just looking for advice on what to look out for when going to inspect the car?

Is there any known problems with the engine?

The only common problem I know for K11 is that the heater resistor can go.

plus check for:
rusted front crossmember
rusted sills
damp passenger footwell after heavy rain/car wash (plastic clip just below windscreen leaking straight into heater fan inlet down to the cabin/ecu)
faulty ecu coolant sensor & o2 sensor may make it run too rich & idle too fast
check brakes are not binding too much
brake disc & pad condition (enough material & not severe scoring)
turn heater dial to cold, start engine and check engine gets up to temp after 5mins of driving (any longer or the temp gauge not reaching midway maybe signs of thermostat stuck open)

Check inner & outer sills, wheel arches & cross-member for holes/bad corrosion.
Listen for cam chain rattle on idle, if it does then walk away.
