bumblebee 1999 inspiration 1.3 2020 rework

dem front brakes, they the standard vented or you upgraded? im huntin for at least the vented micra ones I get about 200 yards heavy braking with the disco biscuits lol

They are N15 Almera 247mm brakes,
15k on them and the insides arnt very slotted anymore now haha ,
First is better pads before the rest tbh,
Im running black diamond , and played with brembo on stock before and well, that made a difference,
Cheap pads ect less performance

I found green stuff the best so far myself, i tried brembo on my mx5 not much better than the standard pads really, the green stuff ones were awesome tho I couldn’t get them to completely fade out, but on a solid disc even the best of pads will struggle and I know I’ll still want more so rather just upgrade the lot at the same time but it’s all money money money and the thing already owes 5 times it’s value lol
 
So the brakes were looking alittle ruff , so took them apart , ground off the rust , and cleaned up, re grease , clean up ect
Pistons still like new under the dust and grease

thought that disc looked bigger, 15k ain’t so bad lol

I found green stuff the best so far myself, i tried brembo on my mx5 not much better than the standard pads really, the green stuff ones were awesome tho I couldn’t get them to completely fade out, but on a solid disc even the best of pads will struggle and I know I’ll still want more so rather just upgrade the lot at the same time but it’s all money money money and the thing already owes 5 times it’s value lol
I recomend black diamond ,
Drilled can crack slotted seems fine,
Depends all on what your doing tbh,
Set of solid slotted maybe drilled with black diamond pads is a decent upgrade over stock,

As im supercharging mine I need to go all the way lol, suspension is all sorted just the brakes to go before I start looking at the charger.
Im keeping the standard 14 inch alloys but ive read the 100nx and n15 ones still fit, all rare now

100nx, n14 sunny, N15 Almera , will fit under 14s steelies or alloys,
I'm running v22 247mm brakes and 14 inch and can run still stock steelies , 13s is not really tho,
They are getting more rare now, become freindly with a banger or 1600 class racer or somthing it how I got mine ,
GTi and gtir want 15s to fit
There's also the se+ vented , only fitted to abs 1.4 se+ models , they are vented Micra brakes , also nissan march. Aswell,

So my scrapped Micra is gone , cut what I needed ect to go into Doppelganger
It has some minor rust lol,
And nicked it fairly new mid pipe for bumblebee as mine which is just over 2 year-old is abit well crusty lol,
And leaked from the flange alot,
Tho I've not been able to drive it for a week with the lockdown :/ it's sounds better tho

And this happend
I was told if a lad local to me with a Micra and bits and well this happend lol
Has a decent amount of bits from matiz struts to for 80mm drop to recent shotblasted sr wheels with caps , short shifter
Was solid to grab and put force but a pressure washer and a hammer said otherwise lol, and it wouldn't start after sitting afew months
The starter was new but crap and rebuilding and playing it was good, but the alternater seized and after some wd40 and a Wratchet got it spinning smooth and free,
So putting it stock and be selling the bits off
Somthing to play with on the lock in
Rest the car is clean and pretty good tbh,

They do like a bit of rust, the micra makes my old mk1 mx5 look like it’s made in Germany lol.
Lol,
The yellow one it's been partly resprayed at some point, and that but both the sills had two ####ty patches but left the rust and rot , and it spread , same happened on alot of nissans we have/had , patched over the rust/rot and fine its like cancer and spreads

The gray one ,meh it's not too bad just odd spots and the driver's side has some filler in it which didn't help,

So had a modded shelf for 6x9s that I nicked the steel covers off so put the Sony xplod speakers in and the plastic covers on
Sr wheels look nice ( those are forsale )
Picked up some cheap chrome d22 mirrors for the d21, as the originals were damaged and a rare in the UK , so had a pov set on then. A black set of d22 mirrors (same fititng just different shape ) and some deflectors cheap
Took bumblebee for a drive as wanted some shopping ,
And give a decent clean as she wanted a wash
Also zoom in on the wheels can see the metallic

They do like a bit of rust, the micra makes my old mk1 mx5 look like it’s made in Germany lol.
Aye I'm sick of fixing bodged welding and repairs
Not going to deny I've done it before on two of first micras I fixed , (tbh even bad repairs were a improvement on them lol as those where heaps lol)
And nice to seem some of them live on and that

Plus practice makes perfect lol,

Been quiet , had issues to havens been able to do much,
got the tempest 95% welded up from t abit in the boot to finish,
Sold near all of the spares with it in 1 day
Got a message of a friend do I want a spoiler and found it was my orignal wrap around so got it back , it's a ICC or along that line orignal aftermarket one ,

and got a Merc CDI to fix for someone ,
black death from blown copper seals plus some fuel and boost issues ,
Compared to the d21 td27 or k11 very much don't rate the merc tbh,

Getting pretty sick of this ,
Past month the tempest has been targeted
Rocks , signs and tonight nextdoors fence thrown at it,
Haven't been able to work on the car basically getting harassed and at the start of the lockdown got beaten up after been belted with ####,
Had the other micras and cars targeted only the cube and one of my pickup got any damage somehow , almost had the windows out on doppelganger ,
Been really hoping to have a nice time, get the car done and dusted have it ready for mot when ever that is,
Get work on my pickup, maybe even start on Doppelganger ,
But just finished the welding on the tempest , got the greatest tbh it's on a flux core but got really good penatration so function over form, and that's about it ,
Cannot do out , even in the garage ,cause the lights ,
Im kinda just fed up , sick of this ####

Mate that’s terrible news!!! I had similar issues when I lived in tangmere ended up fighting a few of the parents who didn’t seem to care what their kids got up to.
Keep ya chin up and a brick by the bedroom window 😉
 
Are those tempest models any good. That was what I first looked at.
Was a five door one it was probably not that great underside but it still looked okay ish to me.
I always think how it would have looked now if I'd gotten it.
At the time though I didn't really know if it was going to be a good idea.

They are ok, just s different interior trim + remote locking and boot/fuel release as standard ,
Late models of the k11 later 52 and 03 arnt great for rust and rot on the sills and rear end alittle worse then normal I've found , either that or just all the local and owned ones are lol,

I really like the inspiration models speciallt higher up version,
I did have a sport+ I like it to a point mine wasn't a good one tho

I think the first one I had seen or was a passenger in was a preface and that was a nice drive must have been when they were new in the 90s.
Also a k10 that was a basic model.

I noticed my k12 has rust starting at the rear light cluster where its not visible unless removing the light.
And also the rear wheel sill has a slight rust to one side.
I intend to touch up a little in all areas that I can see and hopefully prep the area well to make a lasting finish.
The under side look very nice still rust only showing at areas with screws or whatever those things are they all looked the same. The frame its self looked solid tho.

Yeah,
They suffer around the tail lights, o/s inner wing from a clip,
And some on the rear sills /arch specialy if been painted or repaired before are bad,
I like my k12 tbh, I'd have it back if I needed a car afew a few little issues but easy fixed,

I live afew miles from nissan Sunderland ,
Shame thi 80/90s nissans that were once common are dissapearing quick

The front end also has rusty peeling paint. At the bottom I don't think I could do much harm there if I use a silver paint possibly a black would help make it tidy again.
And I guess as long as I see to it soonish it won't become a major problem later on.

Got some fogs not long back so got them hung in there tie wrapped , all the bolts were seized ,
Also while the bumper as off I had alook at the minor rust issue on the crossmember ,
Actually seems better then mine around the radiator , so jumping on it early didn't want to break ,
Been it as a jig to make a foglight loom and fix a light stalk (will follow up on that ),

And a whole back I had a shelf I threw some Kenwood speakers I had but that's all it went so speaker wire from screfix (25m like £5) bit of hot glue and a male stereo plug (stalk plugs work aswell) cut to a 4 pin with the clip, fits the orignal plug of the car
Done it on afew nissans since it's a generic design so can adapt to fit,
And either those or orignal lights are going in as sold the preface lights and handle, since tbh it will sell better stock
Still sorting bits on it as missing afew interior bits and a wiper arm cause it broke lol,
Cheap decent car for someone for next few years when done
And a new ISH transit that spat out its rear brake pad, along with other bits (falling apart )

So from a friend received a fog loom and stalk loom was chopped up abit sort and worked that's about it ,
So the stalk wouldn't work and making the lights go weird and permanently on so popped the back plate off and the stalk shaft had snapped ,and dropped (also covered in white paint it looks),
So with a donor pulled it apart and got the staff out after spending 30minuts trying to pull the knob off haha , and fitting into the stalk so that was good again, (stock and fog stalks + internals are the exact same just the front and rear switch it different , also Almera and primera which use differed pin startup (also works for facelift stalks for this ), pop the back with the plug off, desolder the 2/3 wires from the back, swap all the metal/plastic contact sliders fit the Micra one on , solder the wires on (normally numbered), and away you go,


As the for the loom it worked but was short and not great so extended it with some Micra loom , as asked for , solded , and shrouded , redid the chocolate block and done to the asked spec ,
Have it so it tie wraps to the upright and to the bottom bumper bracket so it tucks out the way 90% like /better then what I did mine 3 years back, tho I need to get some plugs for it and finish abit but yeah ready to go and works as it should now,

35mm lowering springs Vs stock
So the yellow Micra is on 34apex coils with 185/60/14 tyres at 550mm tall (on the car )
Front arch at 605mm
Rear at 585mm (approx )
On stock springs it's like a 4x4 (last pic)

Stock on 165/60/14 at 530mm (on the car )
Front 620mm
Rear 620mm approx

So a difference
Then also the handling improvement over stock
Also hold a decent resale value

Adding since people since to have split opinion on the spring subject

Playing with doppelganger
Bit of rot on the inner wing skin rest is ok
Going though it as it needs the rear end fixing and want to know it's not going to be a another chasing my tail like the sort+ was and it can be fixed safely and worth saving ,
Also the v22 brakes for it ,

Thinking when it's time for repay to go ultra yellow metallic , or Mazda

New rear speakers. Vibe ones
Rather impressed for £9odd
Made some adapters from broke speakers I had , weirdly the plugs and male spades on the rear ,hadn't so ground back and used that, wants tidy but was in abit of a rush
They make for orignal ones sound alittle tinny
But will say even when stock start to destort they still hold to the very end , compared to some once they destort that's It won't got further
Orignal covers fit on the back aswell
Had to turn the sub down alittle cause the total bass lol,

Some nice pics
So the celler I keep my some of the Kawasaki ar125 , Micra spare (my own and to sell) and d21/2 parts was getting messy and wanted sorting doing that , finally found some bits and a box of bolts from bumblebee I lost 2 years ago haha ,but they were replaced so ok,
Some interior pics as someone as asking (I'm unsure if they wanted to buy it lol),
And second to last pic note the axle of the axle,
I've had a issue since I've owned it when under load, or lowered the axle is knocked out of its aliment easy hense but others have seems ok?,
Basically the lower trailing arms want adjusters /shortening and same for the top to level up the axle as it's tilting backward and also sitting are the rear half of the wheel arch hense the issue of the tyre catching the bumper mount,
I will get some gizfab adjustable trailing arms at some point , to sort it

Underside wants some work afew rushed /drunk bits + the sills which rusting from the inside due damp creaping up the seams (not sunroof related),
The new vibe speakers are decent ordered 2 more for the frong

Sorting more parts out
Decided to put my orignal made exhaust on the other rusty doppelganger , forgot how bad the fitment was cause of the wittel towbar hit everything.
And all the nissan/Datsun mats got wet so got they dried a d repairs some
Two OEM option mats , nice 90s vibe about them
And sorting the panel cuts out ,

So Sunday .over the cars about to clean all the rust lol and got some quick snaps
Monday the new guide pins turned up
To find they are 0.20smaller almost then the originals at 7.80 while the worn ones are from 7.88 to 95 aproxx
And the holes gone egg shaped so be drilling out to 10mm and using common pins
So cleaned the discs up as sitting and not been used half as much is t doing them great ,
The spigots were made.from strong bow cans but were worn and alittle thin for the job even when fitted,
So insulation tape as a temp and same for the guide pins have abit of ptf tape one them (they slide smooth and just enough to take up the play for now ) and more grease ,
No great but works for now
And the axle does sit alittle afew back and with the bottom arms been too long for its hight seems to mess up its alinemtb , pics maybe hard to see but axle wants to come forward alittle and realine it as it tiles forward
I have know abit about this but ATM it's really showing.

Front speakers fitted ,
Had to turn the bass and sub down was too much lol,
See how this goes , I'd say these more bass and such the stock still say are hard to beat to destorts easier
Made some plugs from some dead/semi dead speakers
Drilled two holes and seems fine ,
Also finally moved pretty much everything I wanted out the garage to clear space in there ,ltho may re arrange it

So put the steelies on with the old conti tyres i want to kill off
Looks good /toy car like back on the trims
Yesterday the return spring snapped so sorted that and painted the heat shields in the chrome paint lol ,
