Brake peddle question...

Brake peddle is usually always firm...
This week though... when I apply the brakes it will be firm for about an inch... and then it just dips to the floor... and all firmness is lost...
The car still stops it just that "OMG are my brakes working?" feeling that I hate...

Check the level of fluid under the bonnet - this will most certainly be very low.

probably leaking rear brake cylinders.

ok this is weird... I drove it today and no sinking peddle feeling...
fluid level looks fine...
no signs of leaks...

any other suggestions?

bleed the brakes put some new fluid in there

have you removed the rear brake drums and checked behind the cylinder seals?

Check fluid level, check for leaks of fluid behind each wheel.
Flexible brake hoses could be wearing down, causing swelling when braking. Check the hoses on each wheel and replace if very old or worn.

thanks guys... hoses fine... no leaks... turned out to be a faulty vacuum servo... master cylinder was ok. God... expenses... expenses...
