I got into my car yesterday, put the key in the ignition and heard a beep which I had never heard before, then I started the car and an alarm went off!! I knew the car had a alarm but non of the key-fobs are programmed, so i couldn't switch it off without disconnecting the battery, I re-connected the battery and the same thing happend again. Spoke to about 6 Nissan dealers and they said the earliest they could look at it would be next Thursday, so i decided to investigate and found the control unit and disconnected it. But im still baffled as to why it went off, i think it could be the battery as it is low, but my old SR had an alarm and when it went off it was the horn, but this is another siren sound, also near the handbrake there is a little box that says 'Sensitivity' on it. Does any one else have the same type of alarm? Im assuming Nissan sold three types of alarms/Immobiliser on the 1996-1998 model,
1. Basic Key / Central locking
2. Remote Central locking with horn alarm
3. Remote Central locking with Siren alarm and Sensitivity control (???)
