no messing eh baguete

Yes, it was a quick fix. Just need to check the bonnet, doesnt fit right, maybe because of the right headlight/radiator panel, its slightly bent...

Very Nicely Done just need a replacement SR bumper (Y) well done!

Thanks :p

This is just a temporary bumper, to get the car rolling. Later on i will repair the original bumper, or get a used SS/SR bumper.

Already did some work on the SR. Changed the steering wheel for another in better shape. Got some Almera black interior door locks. And im trying to adapt an Almera air box, just need a new filter. The downside was the regrinded cams, they had little material shaved, and they dont fit properly, with the underbucket shim there is no gap between the cams and the bucket shims... Will send them back to get the spec i want. Today i will get some pics.

Baguete, do all mainland european micras have no reverse lamp in the left hand light unit and the reverse lamp in the right hand unit?

IMG_0011-8.jpg

If so, is there any possibility that you could source me a euro spec light so that I can delete the reverse light on mine.

Cheers, Mark.

At least in Portugal they are all that way, reverse light on the right side.

Where are you from mate?

I'm in england - do you think you would be able to find one for me and give me a price for it with the postage. Or if you fancy I'll find you a UK spec right hand light unit and we'll swap and you can do the same on yours :wasntme:

looks excellent mate, well done! you have put a lot of effort in to it
what are your next plans mate?

Thanks (Y)

Im taking all the stuff of the grey 1.0, the SR is only missing the Walbro fuel pump, the adjustable fuel pressure regulator and the Innovate Wideband. It has 260º/10mm lift cams, 1.6 injectors, Janspeed exhaust (but with stock backbox), NIStune ECU and some more bits. I need to get some good tires and maybe coilovers. Yesterday we had our national meet, and a SuperS with a 50mm drop and Koni adjustable was so grippy, the SR looses his tail very easy, need to get a new suspension, maybe Spax coilovers, like Stani has, they look great, need to talk with Matt to check prices. Do you guys have any feedback from them?

car is looking good. shame you are so far. there is one black SR on local scrap yard with front bumper :(

Yeah, its a shame, SuperS/SR bumper are hard to find in Portugal, i think i will repair the damaged stock bumpers.

wow, that looks quick mate  nice repairs too

Well, i think it has a nice accelaration (Seat Ibiza 130hp was beaten by the SR), but it can be improved, with your cam timing knowledge it would be faster for sure (Y)

How many secs 0-60mph your Micra does?

Only time we've recorded for comparison to the previous incarnation was a 0-60mph, (less than 100km/h), in 7.66secs on a G-Tech. However I don't trust the G-Tech I have because it needs 3rd gear everytime in order to hit 60mph, even though 2nd gear should be enough for 64mph, (we make power till 7500rpm). I am sure it could be made to go quicker with a lighter front end setup, as the larger brakes, wheels etc make for more rotational masses.

Regardless of times, it's a huge improvement on the previous setup, which was with induction, exhaust, 264deg cams and Nistune setup......

And i took that long because i only get off work at 5:30pm, have a 1 hour trip to my dad's country house (where i do almost all the work on the Micra's), and only have 1 or 2 hours of sun to paint (dont have a closed space to paint). The roof has a bad paint job because i finished painting it and started to drop some humidity.

Well, i think im close to that time, will try to get some more juice from that engine. But Consult says that i get just a little bit more than 100kmh on 2nd gear @ 7300rpm.

What is your setup now?

Quite different from the last setup, +17.4bhp top end and big gains in midrange torque.

We're running a standard CG13DE block and head, BTB 4-2-1 manifold with 2" collector & BTB 2" system, 264deg cams, (58/26/26/58), Jenvey throttlebodies, Omex 600 ecu, billet flywheel with a helix single plate 184mm clutch and a gripper plate type limited slip differential. Power output last time on the rollers was 123bhp, we'll be back at the rolling road next month for a few more runs as the oil in the gearbox was an 80w140 grade, so saps some power depending on temperatures. We're hoping to make a nice round 125bhp next time.

Thats quite an improvement...

Why did you took NIStune and started to use Omex? Im using NIStune and im very happy with it. Dont know how it will handle the SuperCharger (or TwinCharged), but the time will tell if its any good for that setup.

Individual throttlebodies require Alpha-N mapping, so once the standard MAF is gone a standalone ecu is required.

Im having some issues with the cooling system. I changed the water pump, termostat (76º), changed the radiator and the coolant and put some NGK BKR6E-11 spark plugs. Also changed to ADV22VF GTi-R brakes:

Changed the radiator cap for a 1,3bar cap. And i bought a Pager Alarm:

Yes, i can see/hear the bubling, and the coolant smells like exhaust gases, its a burnt headgasket or a cracked head...

yep i suspect so. happened to me old pollymobile 1 recently when her thermostat stuck closed, overheated the engine, crushed the headgasket, exhaust leaked out into coolant and into the coolant tank. and when i first took off the rad cap to crank and check for bubbles i received a massive fountain of coolant instead :p

replaced gasket, all fine.

The only thing that bothers me is that the old owner had repaired a HG failure, but it happened again, maybe it was badly repaired. On the last 2 weeks i given a bad time to the engine, to blow it for once... lol But the engine still goes strong. Doesnt drink any coolant but drinks some oil, maybe the pistons rings are finished, or cracked valve steams. The best thing to do is an overhauling to the engine...

are the chambers wet? check compression values? my prev cracked exhaust valve stem caused it to slightly smoke when warm in all conditions.

I will check that today, but on the last time i saw it they didnt seem to be wet. I will borrow a compression tester, will post the result right after. My SR doesnt smoke, but a friend driving his Micra behind mine's told me that the exhaust gases smelled like burnt oil, and i can smell it inside the car when i drive it harder, and it smells more when warm.

But the HG problem wasnt fixed, the whole engine was swapped, the engine its all corroded, and the HG its well ####ed up. I decided to open it to check why it was bubbling and drinking oil, and i saw this:

found your desease then?

Not very confortable... :p

and get some material machined off that dirty great big flywheel while its off too eh (Y)

I already have a spare 1,5kg lighter flywheel, it will go for this engine. But its strange, this flywheel looks more heavy than others i've seen, at least more thick...
