Back again...

Hi there, it's been a while since I was on here last. Since then, I've put my K10 off the road and bought a Ford Escort Mk6 as my everyday car, which I'm still using. I also have another Ford Escort Mk3 as a resto project.

Anyway, I had my K10 off the road since 2007 (the valve broke off the engine and destroyed it). I had the car in storage since then, and only last week did I manage to put a new engine and 'box from another K10 I bought as a donor car.

This was the car a couple of months ago:

Gave it a wash there yesterday, came out quite well. There is a few rusty spots here and there, but nothing major. There is a small hole developing in the passenger side sill, but nothing a bit of sanding and filler won't fix. :

The new engine is running fairly well (has 141k miles on it!), the exhaust gasket is leaking, resulting in quite a bit of noise when it's revved. Need to replace it. The biggest problem though is with the gearbox (5-speed manual). It rattles quite a bit when at idle (like their is loose bearings), but it seems to go away when the engine is at a steady high rev, or when I press the clutch pedal. It shifts the foreword gears fine, however, it sometimes grinds going into reverse gear. Any suggestions?

I recorded this short video on my phone yesterday with me revving it:

Note the rattling from the 'box at the start of the video.

I also adjusted the tappets and replaced the plugs and leads too. Just have to do that gasket next.

All in all, it was good to have the old girl running again! Watch this space.
