Almera parts - swap for Micra K11

Hi

I am about to be given a P reg 1400cc (1.4) Almera GX.

I was planning an enigine swap etc...

I have a L reg 1000cc (1.0) k11 micra dot.

So, does anyone know exactly what parts I need ,that will fit, off the Almera eg. gearbox, drive shafts and wiring?

Also what other parts of the Almera will fit eg, brakes and suspension?

Thanks

Tom

Brakes will fit straight on with a small washer to push out the callipper.

Engine and gearbox can be made to fit, drive shafts would be too long and need to be cut and welded to suit the K11 hubs.

I'd reccomend getting the loom and ECU out, you may not need them, but best to have them.

I'd also take as much of the exhaust (especially the front half) as you will need to cut and weld the K11 and almera N15?? *I think* exhausts together.

swap over the brakes, but imo, i wouldn't bother with the engine swap, too much work involved, when a cg13 micra engine would be a straight swap. and almost as much power, and the cg13 is a lot lighter than the ga14.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Now that's got me thinking, is it really worth the hassle of stripping bits off this Almera.

Could you possibly shed a bit more light for me?

1. What is involved in 'making' the engine & box fit?
2. Is there agreat deal of benefit in swapping the brakes?

I'm beginning to think it's not such a good idea wrecking a car which possibly won't transform my K11.

Thanks for your advice.

I disagree with the GA14/CG13 comparison, in my opinion it will make a hell of a lot of difference, yes a CG13DE will produce about 100bhp on a light tune, but from then on things get a lot harder. If you use the GA14DE components with a GA16DE engine you start off with 98bhp standard and a shed load more torque.
I was comparing my friend Tommo's tuned GA14 almera to my standard GA16 one, and the difference was definately noticeable in the displacement of the engines. The GA16 had way more 'pull' in it, whereas the GA14 kind of felt like it was struggling to push the car along. I think that the change in engine type and size will make more difference in a similar way. Plus, you will have a stronger base to modify. I do not think the overall size/weight is much different either (An SR20, for example, is much heavier).

but he's not got a ga16, just a ga14, which is about 80bhp? just 5bhp more than a bolt for bolt swap engine.
the ga series engines have a cast iron block and are a lot heavier than a cg engine, and i've heard that the ga engines are similar in weight to an sr20 due to the sr20 having an alloy block.
imo it wouldn't be worth the ball ache fitting a ga14.

Thanks everyone.

It seams its not worth the swap at the moment. However the cg13 is a good idea for the future.

I think I will not bother with the almera as i am not having the motor.

It seems a shame to ruin a moted car for maby the brakes and seats.

So does any one want a p reg 1400 almera in metalic blue 3 door?

I will try to answer any questions but there may be a dilay as its my auntys car.

The benefit with the GA14s is they will take a LOT of abuse. Ask anyone who owns one!

They're 90 PS standard btw Swiper :)

i agree with swiper on the ga14 engine swap BUT, they are the same dimesnions as a ga16... so once the ga14 is in it wouldnt be much more work to fit a ga16 would it not? but if you are going to do it just buy a ga16 stragiht away! but as swiper says they are loads heavier than a cg engine.

Are you selling it? Or giving it away?
I might be interested either way. Do you have more details? MOT? how long? Mileage?

Thanks!
