406 Brake Light Confusion

Hello All,

For my first post I'll be asking a techie question about a car that isn't even a Nissan, never mind a Micra.

The Missus' brother has a R-reg 406, petrol, dull etc. Anyways, he said the both brakelights had gone at the same time. The fuses are all ok (2 fuseboxes for some reason), the pedal switch is ok as the high-level light comes on, and the bulbs are all ok (cos we just changed them all).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what else could be causing this problem?

I agree, it's probably just a case of it not having enough garlic and going on strike. (Not that I'm one to stereotype)

were they stop and tail bulbs ? because there are a confusing variety of bulb types (ie offset pin, stop and fog etc)

They are stop and tail bulbs, two filaments. He's taken it to the local garage now to see if they can do anything about it.

check body earths french cars are known for bad earths and disco rear lights

Pugs can be bad for the pcb's going too, might have to pull both rear lights out, give the circuit boards a brush down and trying again. That and cleaning all the contacts, making sure bulbs are in correctly etc.

id say bad earth or corroded tracks in the lamp,

wouldnt this question be better suited to a peugeot forum tho?
