2003 micra s 1.0 automatic

Hey guys, gunna start a blog for the lil red beast now. I got the insurance sorted today so I can pick her up on monday. £70 a month not too bad :) cheaper than my motorbike lol. Plan is to pick her up. Get the wheels and sound system fitted. Give her a good clean and polish inside and out, check the condition of the plugs n air filter etc then start some gentle fettling before the real work commences :). Il post some pics up asap allong with my list of anticipated modifications. Gunna be a long one :)

Welcome along..£70 a month? Damn You! lol im getting quotes of £140+,get some pics up,got any wheels in mind yet? have a browse around on here im sure there's plenty of inspiration

Jesus. Mines wiv no no claims and only held licence for 2 years at 23 years old. :) joys of having multi car insurance wiv ya missus :). Got a set of 16x7.5j momos in white :) have a look on my other posts. Will post some pics after iv picked her up n given her a clean :)

i think the k11's look good with wide wheels..iv got 15x8j et20's for mines just waiting on my extended lug nuts to arrive..

Gunna keep stock rolling diameter, gunna be standard ride hight for a while till I can afford to beat her with the lowering stick. Not to fussed bout looks tbh. Its all about whats under the lid :)

So it begins! I picked up the micra at 4pm yesterday. As usual nothing went as planned. Couldent pick up the sound system or wheels untill later that night. So they didnt get fitted. I did however get a few pictures befor it got dark. Will upload them when I have my laptop handy. I managed to fit a sun strip at work during my break and give her a good hoovering before it got dark. The interior is immaculate! For a 10 year old car there is not a mark on her. Hopefully tomorow I will be able to clean the outside and polish her all over. After that the sound system will be going in and wheels will be going on. Im pleasantly surprised by how well this car sticks to the road. She has alot of body roll but holds firm. Bad side is I found the sport button. She revs like crazy and pulls beautifully but I can literaly watch my fuel gauge drop second by second! Iv used almost half a tank of fuel in two days messin about with that damn button. Seems a touch excessive :( im looking forward to doing a couple of mods when time and money permit. This car is going to be a little gem once im finished with it.

Soo today has had mixed results. Started cleaning the car at 3pm. Washed, paint renovator all over n buffed up. Pollished all over and buffed then ultra high gloss all over n buffed again. Car looks amazing. Ready to get a fine tooth comb on the interior. However, I went to leave work just now and the car wont start! Battery is almost dead and I cant bump it cuz its an auto :(. Bad times. Think I drained the battery by having the interior light on whilest cleaning her. Bad move lol. Gotta wait for someone with a battery pack to arrive lol.

I use a torch if I do anything inside my car when it starts getting dark, and turn off the interior lights...I'm paranoid about draining the battery :(
Hope you can charge it easy enough...
I was just about to type "have you got the radio pass/code?"
But if you're changing the sound system I don't suppose that really matters :p

Can't wait to see these pictures ;)

Strangely enough there was enough power not to knock out the radio. Just not enough to crank the motor over. I wont be using the interior light again for sure. Hopefully this wont cause to many issues. I only do about 18 miles a day so the battery is never gunna get a decent charge from the alternator. Will try to post pics tomoro.

I'm pretty sure 18 miles a day is plenty...I barely did 10 a day in my old k10 and k11, and I've only recently started doing about 20 a day on average in my k12 as I changed job, I've never had a battery charge issue. :)
If it becomes a problem I'd say you have an alternator fault, not a mileage one :)

Im hoping its just me being a doughnut and leaving the interior light on. The car came from my gran who had it for four years and never had any charging issues so fingers crossed

well here we go, finally managed to get some pictures of my little pride and joy :).

Here's how she looked when i first picked her up:

And here's how she looks after two and a half hours of washing polishing and such like :)

The final pic is of the only real blemish on the paint work (other than the few minor stone chips associated with 10 years of being driven on ****ty British roads lol). also has a cracked drivers rear light cluster (excuse to get some LEDs?).

will post some pics of the interior as well when i finish it, probs will be a little while due to time contraints.

What do you guys think?

Colour of the paintwork seems to have come out beautifully with the bit of polish and elbow grease ^_^
Have you thought about getting a lick of black satin paint on the greying door handles and bumper edges?
Or is that just in need of some peanut butter to restore them? ;)

Thanks :) Ha ha lol. Tried bumper back to black on them, seems like they always been grey. Back to Black has always worked for me in the past but not this time. Did consider some pb treatment tbh :). Shes my daily drive so cant realy take summin as vital as the door handles off unless I book some holiday. Thats not gunna happen for a while (head chef + xmas + valentines + mothers day = no holiday till march lol)

Quick update, took out my door cards the other day to fit some components, just to discover the new(ish) components are an inch too small lol. Guess I should have researched a little more first lol. So iv been running without cards for a few days. Will be fitting fusion components, 6x9s, 12" sub n amp tomoro. Dont have a head unit yet but gunna run the wiring ready. Lets see what santa brings hey ;). Will take some pics of the fitting and finished job tomorrow.

Also discovered that the grey corner trims on the rear bumber and the side skirts are painted on not faded black plastic! And the front plastics actualy are supposed to be grey! Might keep it that way, nice to be a little different lol.

Continued playing with the audio setup today. Got it sounding pretty good :).fitted a pair of 6.5 fusion components in the doors with m10 nuts as spacers to clear the window guides about a week ago. Fitted a pair of fusion 6x9s upside down on the parcel shelf using some pannel clips and some 1cm lengths of pipe as spacers. Had to run the rear speaker cable over the wheel arches behind the interior quater panels.Looks quite good :). Just gotta run the rcas, wire in the remote lead and fit the amp when I get it back from my enginneer friend who is bypassing the horrendous fusion proprietary 6 pin input plug and jobs a good one. Below is a pic, bit dark but will take more when its light.

I find this most useful... especially as MicraPro is going to be mixing up some china blue shortly... I can get rid of the godforsaken things...woooooo!

I quite like mine. Especialy as most people are colour coding them or painting them black. Will make mine stand out from the other moded micras a little. Might re paint them grey just to tidy them up a little

Stupid question, but wouldn't there be a stock speaker connector behind the liner towards the back right tail light? That's where you plug OEM speakers to.

Aparantly not on all of them. My stock stereo didnt have any rear connections on it so I had to run my own n splice into the iso adaptor. Iv heard a few other guys have had to do this also. I beleive its to do with wich factory stereo you had fitted as two different iso leads are avaliable for the 2000> k11. One specificaly states micra 4 speaker system. The other is all nissan/ford maverik fitted with blaupunkt bp650 which is a direct fit to my standard bp640 unit. Both plugs are completely different.

Got my amp back from my engineer friend today, hes done an excellent job. Said he had trouble soldering the earth to the board as the earth runs through the entire heat sink case which kept drawing all the heat out of the solder lol. Below are a few pics. Just gotta drill the slot in the box and finish wiring up on Tuesday now.

Fitted my 16x7.5 momo x1's yesterday. The ride feels so much better now, steering is heavier n less twitchy than before. There a little close to the legal limit width wise but i think they will be ok. Excuse the greasy hand prints lol. Also fitted the modified induction pipe properly today. Just need to cut off and smooth the hangers for the revurb pipe to make it look a little cleaner. Pics below.

Bin a long time since I updated this last, alot has happened lol. Fitted my moded preface intake pipe with removed revurb chamber, cut the trumpet off the end and fitted a small air filter on the end underneath the header tank (pics to come).

De baffled a stock exhaust ( don't do it, it's n arse of a job.

Shortened my wiper arms so they don't touch the sun strip (pics below)

Removed the carbon canister.

Also sorted my steering wobble out. Two of my alloys are very slightly buckled so iv just put them on the back wheels untill I can afford a propper repair job.

I did exactly that and they failed me on no backbox (shined a torch on the back and saw there were no baffles)

It's amazing what they fail cars on...my bike has a Yoshimura RS3 which is, pretty much, straight through and all I get is a hilaaaaarious advisory saying "exhaust noisy"....

my gf folks say they can hear me like almost 2 mins before i arrive and ive just got a peter lloyd it is handy getting a cup of tea exactly when i arrive though

Unfortunately, due to the horrendous road conditions drivers in wiltshire have to suffer every day, my alloys have gone to the scrap yard in the sky. Was charged a 5er to remove all the tyres, he kept 3 for part worn n charged for the removal of the last one. Alloys then sold to local scrappy for 40.00. Manage to get 90 out of it now :). Also had a minor collision with a hedge following a sharp wet corner. She wasnt looking pretty but I think will now look better than ever once sprayed up. Just need a new wing n wire up the fog lamps. Crashed on saturday, car back on the road Sunday night thanks to my old man and younger brothers working long n hard to get her sorted asap. Final straightening up today and addition of the lower grey section removed from the damaged old bumper inverted and bolted to the bumper as a rather fetching splitter :) going to attempt the same on the back as I now have an original k11c rear bumper rather than the first facelift verion as was fitted when I got her. See pics below

Following a colision with a hedge mostly due to wiltshires ****ty roads, car was straightened out within 18hrs thanks to the old man n my brothers. Have since proceeded with some minor alterations :) and much photo whoring :) I think she looks better now in some ways. Just gotta keep an eye out for a decent replacement wing n then gunna spray both bumpers black.
