1994 1.0 Rattle Under Cat Shield???

Just curious my K11 has a metallic rattle, to my mind and ears sounds like a heat shield rattling away, especially when driving over rough ground at a slow speed.

I've the CG10DE 1.0 16V engine on a 1994 M plate, would this have a cat underneath with a shield on it which could be close to EOL and need replacing?

Smash it off with a hammer, and don't replace it. It happens to all of them

Will find someone with some ramps I can buy an hour on, I live on a cobbled steep street so can't jack it up here. Thanks.

I parked one side of the car up on the kerb which gave me enough space to fit under and take a few swings at it. But cobbles wouldn't be the best to lie down on in fairness

I had some nasty heat shield rattle from the heat shields on the exhaust pipes. For me the heat shields after the front cat were clamped in place by three clamps that were all rusted to bits. Replaced them with new hose clamps and now everything is nice and quiet. I also had to ride the car up on the curb to get it done. If you find a mat or something to put down on the ground the cobblestones might not be too bad.
