Recently bought a 55 plate 5dr Micra 160SR in gunmetal grey, & there seems to be some fluctuations in the rev counter !
Sometimes idle goes from 1000rpm to 2000rpm then settles.
Also when I rev it in neutral it revs OK but when it drops it hovers at 2000-2500rpm & then to 1100rpm !
What could this be, maf sensor or something else ?

I had a similar issue on my 160sr, took it into nissan and it needed a software update and an idle re-learn done, been told it could also be a problem with the idle control valve. The former is the cheaper option at about £100 and the latter is ridiculous at about a grand just for a new throttle body. Hope this helps.
EDIT: fixed my fluctuations, turned out to be the airbox lid, was worn on the little wedges that create the seal meaning an uneven flow of air got to the engine so the idle valve couldn't compensate properly, quick fix was insulation tape wrapped around the wedges.
