My brother has a nice 2000 year 1.4SE+

BUT it really drinks fuel, I used it for one night and drove about 40 odd miles and the needle just droped!!!

It has been serviced etc and looked after.

He is so peeved off he's thinking of selling it.
I would like him to keep it so do any of you know what I can/cause of the massive fuel consumption??

Before anyone comments!! I told him to go light on his right foot already but after driving it its not his right foot!!!

it sounds oxygen sensor or air flow sensor to me. could also be cam/crank angle sensors too i guess.

does it not drive badly in anyway?? (miss fire at high rpm? hesitations? etc?)

i got 1.4 and its really really economical if cruising but when i go flat out in it it really drinks.

I had a 2001 1.4se. Kept it literally for 3 months before selling it. It drank fuel no ones business. A full tank would only get me about 260miles. And that was the same as my '02 1.0 Twister that I had from new.

Strange that both my '99 1.0 and my current '98 1.3 GX can return 380+ o_O
