1.0 ratios vs 1.4 (road rally car)

evening all
I'm back with another micra, but this time shes a 1400cc,
anyways I'm building up a well spec'd road rally car (again) but id like some advice on the gearbox ratios, ive always seen people change the 1.3 box for a 1.0, but in reality is this going to make a difference?
any advice would be great
thanks all

I've got two 1.4s 2001 models. One with the 1 litre gbox and flywheel, and one with standard 1.4 gubbins. The difference is quite vast. The 1l gbox one is really nippy and fun. It does 50 miles less on a tank. Best conversion I ever did.

I also have a facelift 1.4 with a 1.0 gearbox after the 1.4 gearbox developed a problem.

It transformed the car which was already nippy, and responsive with an Almera air box and solid engine mounts, in the first place. The revs are a bit higher which is noticeable at 70mph, but the rewards outweigh the noise.

I still have the 1.4 flywheel so the lighter 1.0 flywheel would be even more zippy.
