Thanks to frank, rlees85 and capnmchl - just thought I'd give a quick update: Replaced the thermostat, easy job :D Used RTV sealant on both the thermostat lip and the housing, which has done the job pretty well. When I first started the car I got rather worried as bottom rad hose didn't get...

Another quick question, would RTV sealant be okay to use on the thermostat casing?

I think thats why my water pump went in the first place - I wont be driving it again until its fixed. ((Un)Luckily my cyborg hasn't sold yet).

Nice to know if I ever give up on the car - theres a market for breaking it and selling the parts :P
