Fuel pump is running. You can hear it running. We checked there's fuel getting to the fuel rail by removing the pipe from the outlet of the fuel filter and turning the engine over - fuel everywhere :blush: The sparkplug was 'dry' when the AA bloke took it out to check it. Checking that...

Fairly certain I don't have NATS. The key certainly doesn't look like it has a chip in it. I've actually bought a replacement ECU off ebay today, just in case that's what the problem is - at least I'll have it to hand when I get another chance to poke at the car at the weekend. Simon

thanks frank! turns out it was the circlip being awkward. If I took it off, the driveshaft went straight in, so I just tightened it up a little bit, and then the driveshaft went in with a small amount of persuasion. Just taken the car for a test drive, and it's like a different car. *super...

Oh, that's not a problem - I've definitely got an identical gearbox to swap in. However, I bough a couple of CV Joints from an ebay seller as well, to change while I had the driveshafts out - but the ones I've bought are wrong - they have an extra set of splines around the large metal shell. Simon
