I'd try just a straight swop, leaving your ECM to run the 1.4 engine, as for programing to engine if you leave batter disconnected which I would hope you would wilst changing engine all the self learns within the ECM should rest after long time disconnected from battery

Have you contacted Nissan customer services and complained I dont know if it will do any good but maybe worth a try as I know they have had quite a fewwith this fault and when they was in warrenty period the A.B.S module and wiring loom would be changed.

If it the chain thats stretched I can do the job for £480 all in, parts labour, oil and filter and full ECM reset.

remove the earth lead off battery for 2 mins. the reconnect, unlock vehicle with fob then turn ignition on wait 10 seconds then try starting. make sure the battery is at least 12volt or it will never come out of lock mode

Its a fault with the clock(metering unit) you would need get your clocks fixed or replaced, the indicator on the clocks is controled through the LAN lines of the vehicle so no fuse or seperate wires to the clocks

How much was the tensioner sticking out? exactish messurment, it only needs be out 10/11mm to be giving you trouble.

It sounds very much like a timing problem to be, did yor friend say how far the chain tensioner was sticking out? maybe the camshaft sensor pick up plate on the end of the cam as moved, or even the problem could be the crank sensor pick up plate on fly wheel, but you need find out the mesurement...

Try see if the car will start ok without your key in there, if it does the odds are you have got a spare key left in the car somewere. he car will not lock correctly if the spare key is left in there. Lets me know how you get on.

Hi, there as not realy been a problem with the 2006 micra except for rear oxy sensors, just change oil every 12 months or 12500 as service book says, the earlyer 2003 ones was needing a service every 9000 12 months
