    ^^correct superls. it has a spring-loaded flap that operates the switch in the 3/4 'kick down' position. *update* think i can guess that the red wire with black stripe is the 'memory +' wire as its next to IGN and Gnd. still need the diagram to confirm:(

    IMO the mesh shouldn't be removed unless your filter is bullet-proof. i've seen induction parts such as the metal rib on filters and rivet heads come loose over time and wedge valves open when sucked into the engine!! remember the micra MAF is quite sensitive.
