Towed a diesel metro (860kg) with a 1L micra once. It did it fine. The only issue I thought I might have had was wear on the clutch but I have done 50,000 miles in the micra since and it has been fine.

what is the advantage of it to the hard pressed motorist. If you have an option of the usual petrol that is cheaper, surely you are going to go for the cheapest. having the e10 more expensive seems daft to me, given the amount of tax we pay on fuel anyway.
