It's not the lacquer though - it's the entire paint layer. It's only done 38K and paint/bodywork is otherwise mint, so worth a bit of effort to sort it if possible, without spending a fortune obviously. If it was a bashed up old banger I wouldn't care myself

Thanks - I noticed a small section of the supply tube had some tape around it - this section was inside a holding clip. I pulled the tube a bit so the taped section was outside the clip and suddenly water is coming through - maybe there was a blockage inside that section of the tube that worked...

I got a Mann oil filter from EuroCarParts - about £3.80 I think it was, with free delivery (if you spend over £10 in total) Research online indicated that Mann filters were considered by many to be marginally better than Bosch - my usual first choice for quality parts.
