    K11 squeak

Check to see if the exhaust heat shields have come loose due to rusting. Mine were really bad so I cut them off.

Help! car struggeling to do 60 :(

Mine had a replacement dizzy last year and the garage that fitted it didn't set the timing. It was at 0° and was as flat as a fart, no power at all. I set the timing up and the difference was amazing.. Worth a check in case the timing's gone out.

    Cat shield

Part of mine fell off a couple of years ago on the A38 :) and the rest was wearing through so I recently took off the narrow pieces that cover the front pipe (wearing into the exhaust pipe in places). Then the cover on the front of the cat was vibrating so that came off too. No rattles or...

Time for a new colour scheme?

Ok i'm bored with yellow. Patchy faded yellow. "You in the Wife's car mate" is getting a bit tedious too if i'm honest. Being somewhat excentric I really fancy something a bit different (and I mean different!). So far these are my ideas in order of preference: Faux rust, like it's rotting...

    Welding front crossmember

Picked the car up after its MOT this morning and it passed! Hardly on the scale on the emissions and no advisories. Yay! Might be a bit of life in the old girl yet :) :k11yellow

Hiya, no the wings stayed on so just the bumper off, inner arch liners out ot moved out the way. The rad had to come out with the fans and the washer bottle. I took the driver's headlight out to get to the bumper mounting nuts but you might be able to avoid this with the washer bottle out but...

    Crossmember differences?

    Well maybe this link works?

    Crossmember differences?

Agree with the above about welding it in, yes it's more of a job but will be stiffer. I got mine in on friday which is this one. Pretty good fit although some of the large captive nuts on the ends were difficult to get lined up but weren't that bad that they had to be moved. Forgot to...

    Welding front crossmember

I bought one 'the same' as getawaycars pictures and i'm hoping it'll be near enough to the original to weld it in and get it through the MOT. It'll either get sold or scrapped next year so not bothered about it lasting several years. In the last couple of weeks i've been close to just scrapping...

    Welding front crossmember

After taking the bumper and everything off the front it turns out to be a lot worse than it seemed at first. It's more holes than steel! And the rad brackets and bolts are rusted to hell and so I need to replace these. So, I've got a new one ordered and hopefully it'll get welded in next...

    micra with 240bhp

Fit an RB in there, with FMIC, and keep the dash and seats in the same place??! Why go to all that bother anyway and de-tune it to 240 brake?

    Welding front crossmember

Thanks for that fella, it makes it look a lot less scary than I thought. I've arranged with my bro-in-law to weld some plates in for me on saturday and as it's a BH I doubt i'll get a replacement through the post in time. If patches get it through the MOT then at some point i'll replace the...

    Welding front crossmember

Well when I was changing the oil a while back, on my back under the car trying not to get oil down my arm, I noticed lots of rust on the crossmember...so much in fact that I put my fingers through it. My bro-in-law is bringing a welder and some steel round next week to sort it, so, in advance of...

    Shouldn't this nut be 30mm?

I filled the new CV with the grease supplied and had the driveshaft cleaned up and the new circlip fitted. By the time i'd tried lining the shaft up with the cage a few times there was so much grease on the shaft I couldn't even tell if the circlip was still there (it was)! Once I'd lined them...

    Shouldn't this nut be 30mm?

I've used both before back when I had a mini (seemed to be a regular job doing ball joints or wheel bearings!) but I'd never touch a wedge type again. I once broke a scissor type too but maybe I needed less turns and more whacks. In those days I had the farm workshop at my disposal so nothing...

    Shouldn't this nut be 30mm?

All done! Well i'm even more confused about the nut size now - the replacement is 30mm so i'm glad I bought that 30mm socket even though I could have put the old nut back on. The new nut is castleated(sp) unlike the old one but still too far inboard to locate with the split-pin. According to...

    Shouldn't this nut be 30mm?

So today I set about replacing the noisy CV joint, and what fun it was. Not. As always my lack of preparation and planning featured strongly in todays performance. Instead of taking the wheel off and measuring the hub nut I found an old post (think it was in the archive) that gave the nut size...

Replacing CV boot or gaiter - questions

Yeah I should have done a better search...found the nut size on here, it's 30mm. :)

Replacing CV boot or gaiter - questions

Does anyone know what size the hubnut is? I've got an outer joint to replace and don't have any sockets big enough. Is £36 (exchange) good for a new non-Nissan joint with boot?

    K11 Power Loss

After changing the leads/dizzy cap/rotor arm/fuel & air filters yesterday my car has started running just like this, fine at idle and in traffic but out on the road it kangaroos with a quick flash of the check light when it does it. One time it cut out completely with the check light flashing...
