I couldn't get back to the car, but the independant auto electrician tried to clear the codes and they came straight back, so the K12 went to Nissan for a new ECU, £1250 plus the fees for towing it, getting the independant auto electrian to diagnose ! :( They got it back on monday working properly.

hi all, can anyone walk me through step by step how to remove the ECU from a K12 please?

that was my first thought! Is an ECU the same from any K12 of the same litre etc? I have my doubts that the diagnosis is right to be honest.

My parents got the K12 tested by an autoelectrician who said the codes reported weren't the root cause of the fault. He thinks the ECU itsself has broken (!!) and he'd prefer they get one fitted by a Nissan dealer (quoted £1100 for the ECU alone) What do you think about this? I have to be...

I can clear the codes yea, but didn't realise clearing the codes would help? I assumed if the car could now start then it would regardless of logged faults in the ECU? How does it stand on this?

how much would you want for your throttle body? I'm thinking at the moment this might be last chance for my Micra :( If I can firstly test the injectors for a connection as has been described in this thread, then if that doesn't work if I can get hold of a throttle body cheap enough I could ask...

Oh right cool. Do you reckon theres a chance I might have broken the ECU by plugging in pins into the diagnostic holes a few times?

where do I plug the black lead from the m/m sorry? Is it the negative terminal on the battery? Sorry i'm confused on that one. I'm tempted to get my car towed to my house without bothering with the throttle body so I can try all these little things before I try and find a throttle body.

i tried loads of different settings on the multimeter to be honest, I started with the one that just checks to see if there is a connection, tried volts and amps, nothing on any of them.....should I try something different?

hi retepetsir, what do you mean sorry? I put one of the prongs from the multimeter on the negative terminal and one inside the connector of the injector on to the metal bit. Should I have done something differently?
