Hey polly, if you need an AVR ISP, I can send you one for free. PM me if the arduino doesn't work out!

Short circuited injector, flooding after replacement

Update, I added one 15kOhm resistor in parallel with the 2 wire head coolant temperature sensor. It improved the situation, but it still occasionally floods. Atleast I can continue using the car now! Adding a resistor will only affect the colder start conditions. When the engine heats up, the...

Short circuited injector, flooding after replacement

Hey, Some backstory on the issue; -1998 1.0 K11 with 1.3camshafts -Been running E85 for 1year -Left car to sit 3 weeks -Battery dead -2x Injectors shorted by conversion box (due to low voltage starting maybe? got stuck somehow) [Infinite resistance] I then replaced the broken injectors with 2...

I'd save the 92*C stat for MOT, you can achieve slightly better emissions with a hotter running engine. Any reason why you are shooting for 11.5 AFR under boost? Have you tried aiming for 12.0?

Air fuel ratio for tuned Micra?

Thanks, and yes, it is only enrichment over existing fuel map. Very nice to see what the ignition map looks like. Unfortunately the fuel maps are expressed in raw units instead of msec injector opening, so not that useful. I was hoping someone would have a plot of AFR during wot, either from a...

Air fuel ratio for tuned Micra?

Hey, maybe someone familiar with the original mapping of K11's can chime in here I am looking for more miles/£, and slightly increase the power output in my daily CG10DE. To make more power, I installed a set of 1.3L camshafts. To make it more economical, I am converting over from...

    PollyMobiles Rebuild

Polly, is it possible to construct the oil return higher up on CG engines? Everyone in the SR crowd is highly against welding bungs onto sumps due to the high risk of failure. On those engines you can tap straight into the block, like this: Regarding the wideband, are you using the Bosch LSU...

    Injector advice ?

Wideband is definately a component that you don't want to skimp on. Initial cost can be high, but controller lifespan is extremely high these days. Sensors are cheap, since the market is flooded with LSU 4.2 and OEMs are now switching up to LSU 4.9 sensors. Innovate widebands can often use both...

    Injector advice ?

Yeah, that's not how you increase horsepower. The ECU controls fueling from a 16x16 matrix. This matrix is specifically designed for use with your current injectors. If you were to switch out your injectors for bigger ones, you'd get a multitude of problems. -Harder to start, due to fouling...

Congratulations on the pass! Regarding the cat, I think you are underestimating them. Most vehicles run single cat, and pretty far away from the engine too. I think your high emissions could come from injectors or piston rings? Here's a link to my most recent smog, SR20VE, single cat far away...

    PollyMobiles Rebuild

I run MAP, so I don't have to worry about fouling a MAF. But I inject water a 20cm before the throttlebody. There are many suitable places to inject it, like pre-turbo, manifold runners etc., all different ones have their pros/cons. I chose the pre-TB because I'm only running a single injector...

    PollyMobiles Rebuild

Polly, while we are on the subject of emissions. I noticed that injecting water into the inlet air can reduce emissions significantly. My initial testing cut CO and HC emissions by almost 15%! My setup wasn't even anything special, 200cc injector with a 3.7bar boat-freshwater-pump (40$ ebay)...

Hey pollyp, I'm digging the daily updates aswell! I noticed you have some issues keeping the exhaust gas temps at bay. You drive the car HARD on all the events you attend. Have you considered running race fuel, or running a water/methanol injection system? I did both on my build, making a...

TPS sensor from ebay - any good?

It can be tested with the key in the ON position, not in the ACC position. With TPS unplugged, if the trans is in neutral and the engine coolant temp is at least 60ºC, the ECU enters "SET IDLE/TIMING" mode. If the trans is in gear and the vehicle speed is above 4kmh, the TPS DTC is set. Also...

TPS sensor from ebay - any good?

Ah my bad, that's unfortunate :/ That is not good. The ECU needs to see 0% to enter throttle closed ignition tables, this will affect your idle quality. Tried it with the car running? One pin should have 5V. Another thing to check with the multimeter is continuity on the ground pin. Have the...
