Yes, thought about a wrap - considered all the options.
On balance, I think sourcing a clean, replacement tailgate and swapping it over will be the easiest and cheapest option. I don't care if I drive around with a peeling tailgate for the next 12 months or more, while I wait for a nice silver...
Never used one myself either, so that didn't cause my peeling. Just a rubbish Nissan paint job.
Going forward I'm going to keep a good amount of wax or sealant on at all times, plus make sure it isn't left in red hot direct sun for prolonged periods (reflective silver car cover I'm thinking, as...
Interestingly, I have a W reg K11 donor car, that is black paint (supposedly the worst) and parked for several years in a spot exposed to blazing sun - paint is perfect!
I wonder if paint problems are worse on 2001 and 2002 models?
Maybe some of the earliest 2nd facelift models (W and X reg)...
It's not the lacquer though - it's the entire paint layer.
It's only done 38K and paint/bodywork is otherwise mint, so worth a bit of effort to sort it if possible, without spending a fortune obviously.
If it was a bashed up old banger I wouldn't care myself
Damn, I wish I'd put more polish on it - too late now for the tailgate, but I'm going to get lots on the rest of the car.
How much do you reckon for a tailgate respray?
I was thinking if I can pick up an unpeeled tailgate cheap - and then sell my peeled one to somebody who is planning a full...
Paint is starting to peel off the tailgate of my silver 2001 K11.
I know this is a common problem, but I'm wondering is there any PREVENTATIVE measures you can take, to stop it happening in the first place?
I'm planning to try and source a clean "unpeeled" tailgate from the scrappers and...
I got one from my local library about 3 years ago - I thought that will tide me over nicely until I find one at my local boot sale for 50p.
Three years later I still haven't found one - every sale I go to has Haynes manuals, but I NEVER see one for the Micra.
I'm still renewing my library copy...
There wasn't a valve on my supply tube - unless it was hiding underneath the piece of tape that I didn't bother to remove.
My K11 is a 2001 - might be different from earlier models?
I might have freed the blockage somehow by blasting water out of my rear washer - I use the rear wiper all the...
Thanks - I noticed a small section of the supply tube had some tape around it - this section was inside a holding clip.
I pulled the tube a bit so the taped section was outside the clip and suddenly water is coming through - maybe there was a blockage inside that section of the tube that worked...
My washer pump has recently stopped working.
I've disconnected the water pipe where it feeds into the jets and no water is coming out of the pipe when the pump is activated - so I know it's not blocked jets.
The pump is making the usual noise when activated, so there is power to it.
Need a fuel filler neck for a 2001 K11 - as long as it's in really good condition, with no rust.
I'd prefer the one off the facelift - but I think the part is exactly the same dimensions on all the K11's - maybe someone here can confirm if that is the case?
Could do with a replacement petrol pipe filler neck for my 2001 K11
Anyone have a used one in good condition at a sensible price?
The hole in my fuel pipe must be high up, because it doesn't leak if I trickle fuel in really slowly - if I just pour it in at full speed I get a big puddle of...
I got a Mann oil filter from EuroCarParts - about £3.80 I think it was, with free delivery (if you spend over £10 in total)
Research online indicated that Mann filters were considered by many to be marginally better than Bosch - my usual first choice for quality parts.
10W-40 would be better - that's what Nissan recommend and you'd get better MPG - but I'm sure it would be fine.
You might want to get some thinner 10W-40 in before winter though - 15W-40 is a bit too viscous for very cold weather.
I use Shell Helix 10W-40 semi-synthetic all year round myself...
Test drive today.
The used Bosch TPS is brilliant - no surging high revs - fixed it completely.
Even my low idle has definately improved - which I wasn't really expecting - still a tiny bit on the low side, but it's not stalling, like before.
From now on, I will choose used OEM parts over...
Just put my used Bosch TPS in.
Connected up my scanner with the engine off and the readings look good - not jumping around any more, showing crazy values - just a rock steady reading that increases gradually as you press the throttle.
So it looks like it WAS the TPS itself and not a problem...
Must have been garaged and only driven on sunny days!
The sunroof drains in such a way that the rust is hidden at first - rusts from the inside out - hopefully yours is not affected.
Can't speak from experience, as I've never had a sunroof - but I believe the Micra has a slightly undeserved...
