Decoding of EPS

Hi, my daughters K12 keyless has been driving me nuts for two months. Bought in July, lights left on in September and drained battery. Wouldn't restart, classic P1611 code, almost certainly has a second-hand EPS unit that wasn't virginised. ECU has been tested, then eventually towed car to Nissan dealer for decoding the EPS but they only fit new parts at £2400 so paid for AA to bring back again. Also tried a locksmith, no luck. Now trying to find someone prepared to virginise the EPS if I send it to them, without charging almost the cost of a refurbished unit. Can anyone help? I'm based in West in London but can courier the unit no probs.
Cheers

Why don’t people realise that the remanufacture process on these eps are absolutely shocking! The amount of people that contact me for this issue! I’ve even now had my local Nissan dealership ring me 3 times! Lol. Do not trust the reman product you’ll get issues! Read my other threads.
World put to rights and now I can have my Sunday morning cup of tea! ????

It's a small light car, you'd have thought there must be some non-EPS rack that could fit
You be surprised how heavy the steering is when it’s not power assisted. The problem is the wheel alignment toe was decreased to provide less friction and to allow more efficient fuel usage, issue with this is with no power steering it’s very heavy. Also the eps gives you active return to centre so again, without the eps you lose a lot of the driving experience.

Thanks Axlmarc, but Jason is kindly on the case for me. In any case I don't have the original EPS - if I had I would just have swapped them briefly to satisfy the immobiliser then swapped back again.

@axlmarc people like you put life’s at risk, the phase ‘alittle knowledge is dangerous’ is written for this reason! Swapping the NVM chip also swaps all the trim data, tune data, and other configuration. Do you know what software each unit is running at, do you know the cut off for each software version.
I wish you knew the consequences this could have and the knowledge of what your actions could have.
Im sure when you do this for someone and they have a accident, you’ll also provide your contact details for legal action.
A bit of a joke, read my other post!!
Jason.

So after 72 days and £300 on fruitless attempts to diagnose and resolve the problem, I finally have it solved tonight and car is back on the road. Jason (huttojb) has been fantastically helpful. As a mechanical engineer myself I can spot BS and there's none of that, he is definitely knows more than anyone else about these steering units, forget the reman companies, he really is THE expert.

Only little problem left to fix is that the first clown who played about with the car on his Maxi Elite seemed to delete the keyless ignition code so we still need to insert the key. Tried the 5 secs on/off and repeat trick, but not worked. So will either live with using the floppy key or pay a locksmith.
