Help! 1.5dCi Fuel Filter Removal

So I've been following Guy's steps on how to change the diesel fuel filter on a K12 (www.micralife.co.uk/K12).

I've got to this stage:

But I just couldn't actually get the filter off; I didn't have an extension bar long enough to prise up from the right side...but it just seems impossible.

Anybody have any advice on how to get it out?

On YouTube videos it looks as if it can just be lifted out from the K9K engines in Clios, but that's not the case here.

Here's a picture of how far I managed to get:

Also any idea what the "priming bulb" is?

Hi i changed mine last week end on my 2010 k12 ntec dci.

It really did not want to move. I eventually levered it out using a crow bar slipped under the right hand side lip!

Ah sound thank you - so it's not just me! I also noticed you changed the gearbox oil (from your other forum post). How did you find that - basically I've got no experience doing it. where can I find the drain plug, and was it really awkward to refill?
Cheers

Hiya,

Yep the gearbox oil was a little tricky but easy enough with the car on axel stands front and back.

The drain plug is on the side of the gearbox. You can't really miss it, and with regards to refilling i nipped in to screw-fix and picked up a lawn mower oil extractor kit. It's ideal for refilling the gearbox, look at the below link and less than a tenner!

When i said side i meant on the passenger side of the gearbox. It looks like a round piece with a small square cut out of it.

Once under the car look up for it on the passenger side of the gearbox, you can't really miss it!

Wouldn't it be easier just say left or right side of transmission, hence these vehicles are made with left and right side steering? ;)
Rest of the world is referring plain left or right when meaning sides of the vehicles, regardless side of steering...
