New person!

Hiya everyone!! I'm new here and also new to micras... and driving. I recently bought my first car, a k11 one litre second facelift 2001 micra. One previous elderly lady owner, 73k miles, £200

At the moment all I have done is spray some of the interior (purple) and I plan to do the plastic trim on the outside of the car next week (black).

I do plan on modifying her at some point in the future! (Any tips??)

Hopefully this forum will come in handy

Hello Naomi. Welcome to the forum, you've just bought one of the best cars ever made, most people don't know that ....but we do.
Just use the search function for anything you want, almost all is there, anything else just ask, it may take a while for an answer ....but it will come in the end - happy days and safe motoring:)

Hi and welcome, I'm new here myself, although at a different end of the age demographic! My car is a 2002 with 75k miles much like yours, I can only suggest you get a good sound system and keep the rust at bay. It's a great bunch of people here, happy motoring.

What sort of modifications are you going for? Most people usually modify for either looks or performance... I'd say most people go for a combination of both...

For performance upgrades which are quite simple and DIY a good air intake system can boost performance as can an good exhaust system.

But probably the cheapest performance modification is proper tyre pressure and good quality, well gapped spark plugs. Some people swear by different brands like bosch or ngk - there are many other good makes!

As for looks you can't really beat some nice alloys, a sweet tailpipe on a lowered micra. That's what I think anyway!

When you have some spare cash, trade in your standard steelies/alloys for wider wheels - 195's 45's are good:) ...it will make your micra out-handle many cars 10x the price and makes a huge difference maintaining pace in a 1.0 without having to slow up for bends. Swap your dash bulbs for Blue Leds. Colour code or black satin the bottom of your bumpers as they are probably light grey i'm guessing through age.....Other than that....don't spend too much on trinkets...save your money in a pot for routine servicing/ tax and maintenance.

Here's my old girl ....slightly pimped.

Right now I'm just modifying how she looks, spraying the bumpers and the plastic trim / door handles. I've sprayed a few parts of the interior purple and I plan to do some more, new seats, new steering wheel, and hopefully some new wheels soon. I'm also a brand new driver so I don't think I'll be doing any engine swaps any time soon haha maybe one day :p thanks for all the advice I appreciate it and will definitely look into doing the things you've suggested! :)

Haha ever so sorry :p

Yes I've just finished doing my bumper black too :) just need it to dry properly so I can pop it back on

Looks fab Davy, and here I thought I had the only black k11 in existence!
I don't have her anymore buddy, sold her to a mate for £400:eek: but when he's fed up with her he has to sell her back to me :D
I've got a 1.3 auto at the moment, nice motor, I don't drive her a lot as I have 3 Suzuki wagonr's as well
Looks like my missus is going to have her as her main drive again.
