    Full Silicone Hose Kits

Very timely, we're just building up the new engine. I've asked for details and costs. Cheers Julian

    MSA Catch Tank

Sorry. only just saw this - but I've also seen that you got it sorted. I still have the loop from below the manifold to the left rear of the cover, so I just take the front right breather to one entry on the catch tank and have a filter on the other. Only 2 connections on the tank. Cheers Jools

    Gutted - what happened?

Double checked with Matt, and the 1340 bottom end with 1275 non-coilpack head has been done many times. Just need to use the 1340 head gasket. Well, the proof is in the doing so watch this space. Once Junior (RawbertM) has his uni dissertation out the way we'll get on with Molly. Cheers J

    Hmm. Food for thought. Cheers

    Gutted - what happened?

Sigh. So, get the head off and have a look. I'll come back to you Frank when we have a rebuilt/replacement engine and get you to advise how to set it up! With a standard ECU (just with NATS removed) I don't think we can use a software package - the car is too early for the OBD2 or whatever type...

    Gutted - what happened?

That's possible Frank. I never realised this could be a problem. I've set the timing like this on previous engines without any problems. What damage could that cause?

    Gutted - what happened?

Thanks Frank. From what you've said it seems that I didn't directly cause the failure, it was something not right in the engine. Ah well, we'll maybe have a look at the weekend. Cheers Jools

    Gutted - what happened?

Err, no. Just used a strobe and rotated the dizzy. I clearly know nothing about these engines!

    Gutted - what happened?

Ah, ok. Why would that stop the engine running? It turns over on the starter fine but no sign of life.

    Gutted - what happened?

That's good to know, Frank - I couldn't understand why it would run sweetly if it was so far out! Not sure of smoke colour, I didn't see it (my son was the pilot at the time). My suspicion is the cam chain has failed, but I have no solid evidence. Is there a tensioner? If so that could have...

    Gutted - what happened?

Hi Folks We were all set to go last night. Ingliston Stages are on Saturday, the new engine was in and running ok, the graphics were finished. Last 2 jobs - adjust the ignition timing and put the sumpguard back on. We had done about 40 miles on the new engine (bought on ebay as a rally engine...

    MSA Catch Tank

Great pic, thanks! I did ours today and it's a bit different. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow. In other news Molly went for a shakedown run today. Ignition timing was way off but she still out accelerated the freelander SD4 up to about 60 mph. A couple of wee bits to do (how the hell do you...

    Question: Harness mounting points

Hi Good question. We have the lap straps fixed into the original b pillar seatbelt mounts, new holes in the transmission tunnel for the other lapstrap (speader plate andno weld), and the crotch straps into new holes in the floor with spreader plates no welds. These have been approved by the...

    MSA Catch Tank

I have read the regulation again, and spoken to a scrutineer. The regulation is: 48.2.9. Engine Oil Systems – Unless equipped with a closed loop system, a Catch tank of at least a one litre capacity to be incorporated in the oil breather system. So, I can take the oil breather into a tank and...
