I'll admit I did have to do some googling to figure out what a noid light was, dont have a proper one, but shoving a micra sidelight bulb holder on some wires in the injector plug gives a pulse at about the frequency you'd expect. Although it was a little faint, so maybe not much current there...

yep, quite right Frank, CAS shielding is connected to earth, and the car still runs with fuel down the TB, so back to square one. I'm fairly certain that either the ECU cant connect the injectors to ground, or its getting a bad signal from somewhere and so its not opening them at the right time...

yep, swapped the pins over as per the diagrams (cam sensor, fuel pump and a 12v feed), fuel pump is working correctly etc. Is there anything else anyone knows of that might stop the injectors firing? bad ground somewhere?

Does this need doing on a pre-nats ECU? As I've now swapped the ECU to the older pre-94 ones, with the same symptoms.

Right, in a rare occurrence for these, its not NATS! swapped to a pre-nats ecu, swapped all the pins, and its exactly the same. Suspected the cam sensor, but its earths and 12v feeds are ok, and the signal has continuity to the ECU. The ECU to injector wires are all ok, and there's 12v on the...

still, if I've no choice, Frank, what year does NATS start getting fitted? or at least an easier to bypass version of NATS. Also will a 1.0 ECU work for a 1.3? as there seem to be more of these around. Thanks!

checked all the ECU earths and the NATS transponder earth, all good. Really wanted to keep the immobiliser if I could, and it was running just fine! though if it does this a lot (and these issues do seem common...) it might be best to bin it :(

urgh, bloody NATS! have you ever seen it play up like this without an error code showing? Wondering if something has forgotten its code or something while the battery was disconnected. Is there a reset or resync sort of procedure? Thanks

Hi frank, if it’s been left overnight it’ll start then die after a second or so, then it gets a bit worse every time i try after that until it’s just cranking with no start after 4 or so attempts
