Just FYI in case someone reads this in the future - - now the car has had plenty of runs and battery is fully charged etc - I no longer seem to get the error code. I suspect/hope it was due to the sitting inactive for some time triggered the error message. It never effected steering or anything...
The normal id of fuel pump failure is if giving it a stern whack underneath the fuel pump gets it going again. They tend to get stuck rather than failing.. and only generally fail if you have been running on low tanks a lot. Also will cause engine to stop running at other times - not just start...
Late reply and revival of this. Spotted small puddle near spare wheel whilst blowing tyres. I found a strange ingress of water coming from the top right hand side of the boot/roof. Open boot - top right run off from the roof. Only found it as there was residual brown solid gunk from previous...

Good luck!

Please let us know - Thanks.

a) Search on this forum/youtube
1) Get it up to temp and give it a thorough revving
2) Check for any loose vac hoses or leaks. A incense stick on non windy day or hissing noises
3) if it...
Welcome! Sounds like a bargain and you have already fixed one of the common problems. Great little cars - i took a double oven to the dump in mine yesterday.
Thanks for your input. The garage quoted me £350 for parts and labour which seems quite reasonable. I do like doing things to the car so not sure if I'm going to have a bash yet - will try to see if the cost and playing with petrol risk is worth it. It looks a doddle on one video on youtube -...
