    Steering column rattle

My new problem - I have an increasingly irritating rattle from the steering, and sometimes I can feel the knocking through the wheel. Last year's MOT lists "worn steering joints" as an advisory. Is there anything I can tighten up or replace? Many thanks.:)

Front fog lamp holes - cheap fix!?

Well I would post a picture but I don't seem to be able to from my phone... ...however I'm pleased with the result! Oh, it has finally done it! Well as you can see, I got the bezels for both sides, stretched £2 aluminium mesh across the holes, glued a piece of clear plastic on the back...

    Arrrgghhhh! Where is it?

2003 1.5dci. Can any kind soul tell me the location of the turbo boost control valve? I've looked everywhere! I was thinking of replacing it as part of my quest to cure the chugging at low speeds.

    EGR replaced but...

I've just realised the significance of this comment - maf sensor? Didn't even know it had one! Wherein earth is it? My last car ran better with it unplugged, showing the maf was faulty - will the same trick work here?

    EGR replaced but...

Thanks for your replies guys. I've read a lot on EGR blanking, but since the cost of replacement was low £38 new) it hardly seemed worth the hassle. There are no faults stored - the eml light came on at first, due to me not getting the plug on properly... I don't think there's any air getting...

    EGR replaced but...

Well I've fitted a new EGR valve, but it doesn't seem to have solved the main issue I had. The engine still stutters and jerks at 1500rpm, which is exactly 30mph in town - not exactly handy. I would say it does run slightly smoother, idle and pick up seems a little better, but little else has...

    Corrosion!

Upon removing the o/s headlight today, I discovered a nasty patch of corrosion on the chassis/inner wing underneath. Given its proximity to the suspension turret it will definitely be an MOT fail in the autumn. I'm told it's a known weak spot on the K12. Strangely though, the floor pan...

    Cloudy headlights - amazing fix!

My headlights were cloudy and opaque. Today, visiting a friend he said "you can clean those headlights quite easily you know" and produced a bottle of Grease Lighting waterless solution. I simply would not have believed the results if I hadn't seen it for myself. A few minutes rub removed a...

Here's the problem - but how do I fix it?

Since I got my car (dci) I've been struck by how noisy it is. The diesel engine sounds at times really heavy and rough. Today I partly found out why - the air induction pipe from the slam panel to the filter housing is coming loose. When it sits loose at the filter housing end, the engine...

    Sidelight replacement.

Oh your dead right, and what makes it even worse is I have new oil and filter at home too... ...but I recently moved to a very busy road where lying under a car would be inadvisable. And the weather is cold:eek: And it was quietly pleasant to let someone else do it for once! Also, they agreed...

    Timing belt change recommendation

Many thanks, the local Renault dealer quoted £470 belt only, + everything else extra! An independent, who honestly admitted he's never done one on a Micra, said he's done several on the K9K fitted to other cars, and has quoted £220 for the full kit, including water pump, and coolant change, so...

    Sidelight replacement.

When I had my cars oil changed last week, the 12 year old spotty yoof doing it spotted the new bulbs on the front seat, and fitted them both without asking! So you could say it cost me £69.99 to get them fitted, but I got a free oil change...:D

Hmm, this car isn't actually too bad...

Never been a fan of the k12 up till now, but being low on funds I picked up a biffed about, unloved dci recently, and thanks to this forum have been able to tackle some of its issues. It's loaded with gadgets - reversing sensors, climate control, auto wipers, stuff only posh cars had until...

    Fitting VGT turbo

Thank you very much, I have a new EGR to fit, and would like to clean the pipe first - some people's seem to be chocked solid.
