K11 Micra tyre switchover and blowing exhaust

I took it to a garage for a quote and they let me look under the car whilst it was lifted up in the air. I need a new mid and rear section for sure. However, the front-mid section of the exhaust are so rusted together than I think damage will occur. The front section for the part alone is...

K11 Micra tyre switchover and blowing exhaust

I see what you mean now. The middle box on the exhaust is not the cat. Am I right in saying the entire exhaust looks like the ebay link I gave? I rang Nissan and they were on about a 3 piece exhaust - The middle and rear but also a front pipe?!

K11 Micra tyre switchover and blowing exhaust

Yeah it is a late 2000 model and is the Micra S. The spark plugs have the square coil packs on top of them, plus the exhaust top points at the floor and is hidden under the bumper rather than poking through it like on the earlier K11 Micras/

K11 Micra tyre switchover and blowing exhaust

Something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-MICRA-CENTRE-REAR-EXHAUST-BOXES-1-0-2000-2003-/110723488280?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AMicra%7CPlat_Gen%3AK11&hash=item19c7a25a18 I am concerned that an ebay exhaust will have a crappy cat and it won't pass the MOT.

K11 Micra tyre switchover and blowing exhaust

OK thanks for that! How much am I looking for a new exhaust and where should I get one from? I may fit it myself (if that is possible on a driveway or by putting car up on small ramps).

K11 Micra tyre switchover and blowing exhaust

Thanks for the replies so far! I do very few miles and my tyres were from Kwikfit in 2006 but the tyres have no signs of perishing or cracking so I will continue to use them. Will Kwikfit have done any balancing? Are the wheels balacing individually? Can I literally swap the fronts with the...

K11 Micra tyre switchover and blowing exhaust

Hey all. The car is a 2000 Micra 1.0 (00-03 model where the exhaust is hidden under the bumper rather than pokes through it). Firstly: I put new tyres are on the car a fair few years ago. The tread on the fronts are much lower than the back (all new at same time) - Is swapping them over around...

Help with headlight allignment (MOT failure)

Hey all. The Micra had an MOT and failed it on last Saturday, on a few small things. I replaced the passenger headlight 4 years ago and it is apparently too high, which is wierd as the same place has MOT'ed it since 2005. I replaced the driver headlight a few weeks ago as a stone cracked...

Help with rear brake drum removal

This is the bit I am at. I just haven't the confidence to try things as I am not good hands on. I really wish to try though! Had a look on google. Looks like I just need to smack each side with a hammer. Can anyone confirm that there is no centre hub cap thingy to take off on the micra?

Help with rear brake drum removal

OK, thanks for that. I have never even checked them though and the car has done 41,000 miles! Do rear shoes wear much more slowly than the front discs then? For future reference, is there a centre hub cap that I must remove on the drums to get them off? The poking the screwdriver through the...

Help with rear brake drum removal

Yep, but the issue is I cannot get the drum off - What has this got to do with the cable?

Help with rear brake drum removal

It goes 6 clicks, but what has that got to do with removing the drum? Yes the handbrake was off :p.

Help with rear brake drum removal

So to check the rear brake shoes I must actually damage them - Thanks for the tip! Is it likely that I will need to replace anything else on the rear brakes? If I will damage the shoes by checking then I will just buy new ones anyway. The car has done 41,000 miles and as far as I know these...

Help with rear brake drum removal

Will that not ruin the drum? Could you post a picture if possible. I could go ahead and do it but don't wish to break the thing in the process. My car experience is limitied. I understand how it works (just done an engineering degree) yet my 'hands on' experience is very limited. Feel free to...
