Sounds like that's the only option I'm afraid. This is why I specifically went for speakers of around 47mm deep so that it wouldn't hit the grill. I've had a look on the door panel and there is no way to pop it out. So you'll have to cut it out.
Hey there, since you will be over the mounting depth maximum, you'll need to do some DIY. Easiest thing to do would be to buy a different set of speakers that won't go over them. I got myself some Pioneer TS-G1711i. What head unit have you got btw? I run my speakers with a Pioneer DEH-2220UB.
Screw the new headunit into the old cage. However, chances are the screw hole sizes differ like mine did. So I just used screws of whichever size was smallest (mine was the head unit), and then buy some washers to secure both items together.
I had the same problem too. The bracket provided with my Pioneer head unit had no way to fit in that massive hole, so I just screwed the head unit onto the old stock bracket. Getting it screwed in was the tricky bit for me because I had to get some washers as the screw holes on the bracket were...
Thanks. I made that pic cos I had a hard time getting it off first time as no-one told me there were spring clips, so I wanted to help others too. Glad to hear it helped at least one person!
Hey there, glad to hear you're making progress. About the back speakers, I wouldn't know sorry. I only plan to fit front speakers for the time being, so it would be best if someone else helped you with this. Good luck
Hi, first of all I would think a way to test if it's the left speaker or the headunit stereo that isn't working would be to play about with the balance settings. Set it all the way to the left, and then to the right. When I decided to replace my stereo a few months ago for more connectivity such...
Got some superglue on it and it seems fine now. Now I got to get the windows clean cos of that green gunk that held the plastic cover sheet on the door was getting everywhere, and then a change of the wiper blades which I bought replacements for months ago and never got round it it. Funny how...
Many thanks for the link. I'll give it a try. I tried to tighten the nut but it didn't do much as the glass panel was still able to slip out of the clip! Strange that the other clip is holding the panel in fine! I'm going to have another check tomorrow to see if anything in the door is rubbing...
I found out that one of the places where the glass panel is held onto the regulator has gone loose so the panel keeps sliding out of it! Now I just need to find the right socket thing so I can tighten the nut. Does anyone know if I need to apply some new glue?
Hello everyone, I have a Micra K11 which I recently replaced the speakers in, and this involved taking off the inside panel. However since then, I have noticed that:
1) when winding down the window, it isn't smooth due to friction because these black strips along the frame keep getting pushed...
Hi, I had this problem trying to install my Pioneer stereo. I couldn't use the Pioneer bracket so had to stick with the original frame. While the screwholes on both lined up, they were different sizes in diameter. What I did was just use some washers on the bracket, and then use the smaller...
Thanks for the replies. Seems like I will cut off that ugly brown connector, and attach some crimp connectors on there before attaching it directly to my new speakers.
Hi everyone, I have a Micra K11 at the moment, and I'm trying to replace the front door panel speakers. I have got as far as taking out the old speakers.
Here is a pic showing my current status, as well as what it looks like once the panel is taken off incase anyone is wondering where the...
