Engine & Performance modifications...

My engine:

My engine maybe standard at the moment with only 2 additions to gain more power with the K&N and and powerflow S/S exhaust it won't stay like it for long.......

Next Engine mods 06/05/02:

Install of twin carbs and getting a 4-1 S/S custom manifold made.

Steps to tunning a K10 engine:

This part of modifying your car probably has to be the most difficult and expensive but well worth it as you'll be surprised what you can get out of a 1.0 engine........

The Nissan Micra K10 1.0 or 1.2 runs between 50-60bhp, You can add a K&N bolt on Kit and a S/S exhaust full system combined with a ( custom ) 4-1 manifold and increase the BHP by about 10 or so for a small outlay of money. Its a very good idea to get a straight through exhaust system since the K10 has a really restrictive design as standard.
After fitting the new exhaust and K&N. I would advise you to get your k10 on a rolling road and possibly have it re-jetted. This will give you bigger fuel jets to match the increased air flow.

You next step is to have major headwork or inlet manifold / carb work done, both will cost upto £1,000 or as little as £600 (be careful). Ignore any port polishing as this will do nothing. You need the head worked on by a pro with a flow bench. Unless you want it to look nice don't accept anything less.
You should first have an inlet manifold built and webbers installed in place of the Nissan standard one, webber DCOE is what you really want, and 40's are recommended, also don't forget the cam, after all this work you will really need to change the valve timing since it will be seriously restricting the car by now!

So if you wanted to modify your performance, but not have a huge bill at the end you can do the following

1. Replace the standard exhaust system with the S/S exhaust system.
2. Replace the standard air filter with a K&N bolt on kit
3. have the car on put on rolling road and have the fuel jets increased to match the air flow

The cost for this could be around £400 and increase BHP by 10-15

To complete the modifications below and increase BHP to 100 you will need
K&N bolt on kit £44.99
Power flow exhaust £250.00
Engine mods £1,000

This is going to be the main project and the most realistic for the MSC project car!

1. Exhaust manifold custom made 4-1 design
2. Head Gas flowed and fit a race cam. The head work will concise of taking the engine apart and fitting larger valves and high lift cams and also bench flowing the head, you will expect over 20 BHP increase
3. Webber / Dellorto carbs as shown below with custom inlet manifold

4. Fabricated inlet manifold
5. Flywheel balanced and lightened
