Won't start, dashboard light show, lots of clicking

Micra K12 1.2 Spirita Auto 2006

Parked up last night fine. Today I inserted the ignition key, turned and nothing. I assumed the battery was flat so got another and my jump leads and connected up, still nothing from the starter but I noticed a few oddities.

1 Air bag light came on, went out but came back on and started flashing
2 Radio didn't come on
3 LCD display on dash remained blank
4 Lots of clicking from relays, door locks and tailgate lock
5 switched on headlights, came on dim but indicators also flashing

Bad earth? BCM problem?

Any suggestions welcome

Mine did exactly the same turned out I had to recharge the battery. They are tiny .
For me I put a spot of wd40 on the wires including the grounds that also looked a bit oxidized. Then made sure the connections were clear with some sand paper. Then put a bit of grease on the terminals of the battery connected it back up and started again.

Well went back to the car and the battery was so flat the car wouldn't unlock so I had to use the key in the "secret" lock on the passenger door to get in. I attached the other battery and to my surprise the car started after a bit of cranking and everything now seems fine, didn't even need the radio code so there must have been just enough charge in the battery to keep it. I let the engine run for a while and then stopped it and removed the jump leads and restarted from the car's battery and went for a run. The battery is less than a year old so hopefully it won't lose charge overnight and I won't have to look for the receipt.

Grease is NOT a good idea it is an insulator, you need to use vaseline or petroleum jelly which is a dielectric....

While living In San Diego, California, US of A, I bought tube of dielectric grease 2001, have used 1/3 of it. I use it on Harley's, Camaro's & Micra's battery terminals, bulb bases, all connectors to prevent corrosion and mailfunctions. (y)

And the all important word there Mika is 'Dielectric' .......your 'common or garden' lubricating grease will not have that property....

My friends Micra has similar problems, sometimes won’t start but when connected to jump leads, starts easily and will start later easily. Battery seems to have plenty of life in it. Just makes her think her car is unreliable.
I’m trying to persuade her not to buy a new battery, I think it may be a bad earth, I have little experience of the Micra, can anyone advise where the problem areas for earths are?
I’ll unbolt, clean and use petroleum jelly on them
Thanks for your help
