Airbag Light PLEASE HELP ME!!

Hi,

I desperately need some help please.
My car was in a bad accident 2 years ago and airbag came out and both front seatbelts became locked. The airbag light was thus constantly on.

I replaced the airbag and both seatbelts. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a hold of a passenger seatbelt from the 2000-2002 models, so had to settle for one from a 1998 model. This seatbelt has a different plug to the one in mine and a long silver tube (of reactant?).

Anyway, the airbag light was now flashing and so I was told I needed to replace the airbag module (just behind the gearstick). After doing this and now replacing the passenger seatbelt as well with the correct model seatbelt, the light is STILL FLASHING!

Can anyone please suggest anything else I need to do as the MOT guy is refusing to pass car with this light on (he was more lenient last year). I have already collectively spent £100 on the 3 seatbelts, module and airbag and really want this light to stop flashing. My concern is more that I want reassurance that my airbag will actually deploy in an accident should I have one. I know I can just take the bulb out to stop the light flashing and get the car passed for MOT but I have a concern for my safety.

Please can anyone suggest anymore ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You need to plug in the passenger seat belt or the light stays on. I removed my passenger seat and belt to fit more stuff in & do the inside sills and light won't go away until the circuit for the seatbelt is complete.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I had already done this when I replaced the passenger seatbelt with one from the correct model Micra and then plugged it in and light still remained flashing. But went today to get computer connected via OBD and computer said 'no fault in system', the mechanic was quite puzzled at this but then when the computer was disconnected, the light also turned off!

Huh. Well if the circuit is complete, the fault finder / mechanic come up empty and the light has gone off then I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. Maybe it wasn't plugged in 100% or something.

I have had the same problem with my wife's 2007 Micra Sport - and Ive tried all the key resets and I have also replaced the drivers set belt restraint buckle - and I cant get the light to reset. I noted a comment on the thread about the passenger seat belt buckle that needs to be fastened in for a full reset .. curios about this as I dont have any wiring going to the passenger seat .. the harness is under the seat but no connection ? the light did clear at one stage and now its back on.. should I be looking at the airbag module itself and where can I locate it..?

Stay safe

Paul
