what did you do to your micra today ?

About mot, my Impreza passed yesterday...
Not bad as for a year stopover...

Rustbucket is still in progress. Did some milestone progress today but...

I FORGET to take camera

Out walking the dog today and seen the cleanest preface on my estate. Was on a N reg looked immaculate :)

Also seen a Nissan bluebird.

Sadly I didn't have phone to take pictures :(

This weekend was taken up by the SR project, I refurbished the front bumper stays and re-painted the cross member and box ends. Waxoyle everything and refitted the front bumper wheel arch liners and also finished refurbishing the fog lights. Also finished the passager door and Waxoyle'd the inside and refitted the electrics and door card lol! B-)

Bought a full car cover last week best £10 I've spent in a long time. No more scraping on icy mornings or bad weather acting bertha over night :D

Friday and today on the SR I extended the sun roof front drainage hoses through the sills to deposit water outside. I also remove the rear interior side trims and re-route the sun roof rear drainage hoses from draining into the sills, will extend the hoses so that they will drain in-between the rear valance and rear bumper. The inside of the sills looked in good condition with no corrosion visible but I still coated them with Waxoyle.

The sun roof water drainage system is the worst design fault ever especially on the pre-facelift Micra. The front drainage hoses route down the A Pillars and deposits water into the sill where it sits! On the pre-facelift the rear drainage hoses route down the C Pillars and on the the 3 door models goes behind the interior side trims and deposits water into the rear of the sills, not so bad on the 5 door models the hoses route down behind the rear lights and out through the chassis. The 2nd facelift (not sure about the 1st facelift) has 3 weeps holes on each sill but these still clog up, the pre-facelift relied on very small gaps in the weld seam to let water out! Here's a pic of the rear drainage hose outlets on the rear of the sun roof on my SR!

i have never seen a k11 with rot on the front of the sills tho andy, and i had 4 k11,s
2 with sunroof fitted and they had no rear sill rust, and 2 without sunroofs that DID have rear sill rot

Had a spare minute today and decided to renew exterior trim as it looked dull and made my car look old.
(click)
Firstly used erase-all magic sponge and fair bit of elbow grease. Result looked better, but still not there.

Almost forgot that I have bought Gtechniq C4 trim restorer couple of years ago and never had a chance to use it until now. Wiped plastic parts with rubbing alcohol and then applied 15ml of C4 trim restorer.

What a difference I can see! Very happy with result plus have some 5ml left if I need to apply againg in the future.

Exactly the same as my experience with a K10 and two K11s, without sunroofs, rear and inner sills rotted together with rear wheel arch seat belt mountings and fuel filler down pipes;~ well past their sell by dates at about 16 to 18 years old with 80 to 100,000 miles plus. Perhaps where a sun roof was fitted the sills were originally corrosion protected on the inside but none was applied to those without sunroofs?

In conclusion, perhaps sunroofs are best avoided as being just more superfluous tat to go wrong, (leaks and flooded rotted floor pans) in cheap and cheerful runabouts nearing the end of its economically viable useful life? ;)

Loving my little bucket. Was +4C on friday when i left it at train station and now came back was about -9C started right away after priming like always. Completely frosted and frozen everywhere thanks to moisture problem inside. And left headlight has died during weekend. Some random person asked for a lift and i drove him like 500m and for that he gave me six cranberry ciders so was good trip.

Today was a good day. Found a man who was breaking a super s and picked up the rear bumper (front was already gone) wrap around spoiler, mud flaps, full interior and a modified rage back box and decat janspeed mufler for a mere £80
Him and his son banger race micras and he had about 10 sat on on his forecourt. It was shame to see a super s being attacked with a sledge hammer but I certainly benefited from its destruction.
Already got the seats in and my goodness they are infinitely more comfortable. What a find

Thought I would compare the rage exhaust next to a standard micra. I'm a little worried that it might sit against the bumper. Also I don't particularly want a crazy loud exhaust.
Those of you running a 4-2-1 and a large back box..... What's it like? haha i think I would feel guilty all the time thinking I'm pissing everyone off.
I look at corsas and fiestas drive by with big exhausts and just think why have you done that. I would imagine the general public and my neighbours would be thinking the same.

Jacked up the car after work to find the reason it's gone loud all of a sudden, found the exhausts centre section has a lovely crack half way between the start of the first silencer and the flange. Dad said he would weld it and and add some sheet metal around it to strengthen tomorrow :D

Today on the SR refitted all the interior trim apart from the roof liner still got to weld the replacement top boot lid gutter, also treated and zinc primed the spare tyre well. Next task is to start the complete refurbishment of the brake system including front and rear calipers and new discs! B-)

Polished windows with Autoglym glass polish - didn't expect so much crap to come off from looks like clean windows. Sealed with Gtechniq G5 for nice water beading. Also applied another coat of wax, so that should last over the winter.

Removed the exhaust system from my scrapper. Not one bolt snapped!! Chiseled out the first cat for more flows, and removed gear linkage. All to go on my next micra. I've decided I want a three door

Cleaned up and Spray painted all the brackets that I've taken off so far, battery tray too. All with black hammerite smooth. Started the prep on my mudguards filling all the gouges.
Rocker cover is very red, i filed the lettering down and made it all shiny. Not happy with it though.

Started painting my wraparound spoiler but had to stop due to the lovely British weather. ( I know to get best finish I should be painting inside. In the warmth but the missus won't aloud me haha )

Hopefully get it finished and fitted for the weekend.

Passed MOT so happy for that with my professional fiberglass over rusthole fixes :D. Downside passed it with two must be fixed by 22.1. notifications that are 1: left front parklight 2: windshield . Have to see if there are any scrapper micras near, possibly found one, and try to get used one for cheap otherwise it is 200€ byebye.

throw a brick at your w/s, then claim it through your insurance, about £75,

Suspicious much that right after inspection my windshield explodes from brick . Insurance company goes, reads the registration info and it reads there: windshield cracked, must be fixed by 22.1. so insurance fraud fines coming right up:eek:

Been a while since I've posted on here.

Had to get a new car as my previous 97 Vibe had some serious tin worm and needed a timing chain. I cut my loses and sold it for £100 after paying £250 for it 6 months beforehand. I was sad to lose my first car especially as I had an SR bumper waitting to go on (also sold).

Anyway I got a 2000 first facelift (my preferred facelift) with 50k for £400. All it needed was a new tyre, there's a rattle but that's just a loose heat shield and the throttle probably needs cleaned out but it's perfect otherwise.

I've had it a couple of months now, so far I've managed to swap out the boot lid handle for a pre-face (colour coded, need to some paint correction above the handle), swap the lip spoiler for a wrap around, de-badge the boot, change oil and filter, spark plugs and air filter. The car definitely feels a lot quicker but I can't say im a fan of power steering, I preferred the old micra around corners. Hopefully the coilovers I'm ordering in January will help with that.

here's a pic.

Today on the SR I removed the colour coded door mirrors which had a few scrapes and the lacquer was blistering. Rubbed them down prepped them for painting with acetone and applied a first coat but noticed a slight blister reaction where I had to remove the gold top coat will have to lightly rub down the area again and hope the paint takes? :-S

Bought this as an XMAS present to myself, second hand from EBAY, Now aftermarket Radios aren't my thing but I have more CDS than Cassette tapes and this comes with an AUX for MP3 ect Originally I was only going to Test fit this to see what it was like but now it's in I don't like the idea of constantly messing around and the screws are starting to get worn. Besides the Nissan one I put in a few months back won't go to waste, the GF can have that in her Preface once it's back on the road.

Called a dismantling company to have it taken away and scrapped because the MOT is up in a weeks time, I have nowhere to store the car and i'm half way through a clutch change and don't have the time or money to complete the work ready for the MOT. :)

Sad to hear, what's the situation with scrap cars these days? the last car I scrapped they took it for free.

I have a Sendai CD789 in my Micra with blaupunkt internal aireal (as my roof one shafted). You may laugh but the Sendai picks up much more stations clearer then my Alpine did!
