Mildred the Micra

hope its not too bad!
wide tyres should always aquaplane. you have to slow down.my 175 or something like that on the 13 inch rim was even doing it in the motorway truck rutted lanes. best thing is to not fight it then the car stays straight. just release accelerator. but that floating feeling is bewildering whilst it lasts. 47 years old up for parol.....................stroll.

Yeah I'm fine thanks everyone :) surprisingly Mildred is to considering the massive bang :L...
What with fallen trees and flooding that came half way up the door, debris all across the roads and the down poor of snow and rain... She held up incredibly well as ... Most stressful driving ive encountered for a very long time....
Came close to hydro locking the engine.... Flooding going right over the roof when driving through it ....
The only damage I can see is there is Is cracks in the body filler on the front bumper... A cable tie missing in the splitter... A wonky number plate... As exhaust full of mud and a crack in the back box pipe is I believe the only damage :) she did me proud!!

This was after emptying the exhaust to get her home

Think I got it all out now

She's had a lovely bath and a polish to say well done :) xx

Cheers
Andy :D

Heyaa Andy :) we're both good thank-you :) how about yourself?
Ahhh bless you thank-you very much :)
It was a good night really good turn out.... Other than mine and Tom's one more :L
But it was a really good night :)
They're the only pictures I have :( xx

Stoooooopid Mildred!! Got a Miss fire on Sunday....
Today ice changed the ht lead, the spark plug annnnnnd the injector.... But still she insist on being broken....useless car!!! :( xx

Bless you thank-you :)
Not to sure where to go from here :L I might put a injector from a good cylinder into the bad one to triple check it's not a injector :( xx

I'm guessing you've found which one is bad, but if not squirt water onto the manifold and see which one is cold

Otherwise I guess check your dizzy cap for build up on one of the contacts?

Bless you thank-you :)

case of trying to isolate the troubling cylinder if it's a constant misfire.

  • pull each HT plug to spot which one is misfiring and doesn't affect rpm.
  • then check that cylinders spark gap & appearance,
  • dizzy cap points all clean & oxide free,
  • remove & check the spark plugs firing bright blue whilst cranking,
  • all 4 compression are equal,
  • leak down test if one's very off to check for bad rings or valves.
  • listen to each injector with long screwdriver/rod against ear if they're all clicking the same whilst running,
  • swap the suspected injector around and recheck if the issue has shifted cylinder via the unplug HT plug method,

I usually pull the lead from the engine instead of the dizzy. Just preference.

You can check injectors for sure
Pull the rail frm the engine and crank it. They'll squirt as necessary. And you'll wee the spray pattern too

Oh and Hey Chloe :D

Heya Andy :D hope you're all OK :D
I did originally pull the lead from the block to find the problem cylinder, then I pulled it from the dizzy just to check the condition/strength of the spark from the dizzy cap (was pretty good)

I suspect injector from the start but as the plugs and leads were easier to get to thought I'd do them first....
Well update I was out today so Tom had a look at Mildred
Turned out my suspicions were right about the injector.....
However I had swapped the dud injector.... With the first one I could butcher out of a manky spare rail.... Which what were the chances!! But that was also broken :L so Tom managed to find our last spare injector and chucked it in.... So she's running on four again

And as of that can have a few new goodies when they turn up on post :) xxx

Flipping injectors eh. No good

I'm glad she's back up n running :)

We're all good here :)
Hope things are well your end
Just frustrating that the replacement one was broken too!! :L

Me too :)

Good good I'm glad to hear it :D
Yeah we're both fine thank-you :D xx

Once again running on three cylinders.... Getting bored of repetitive misfires...
Low and behold... Injectors again!!!
So if anyone has a fuel rail/injectors for sale please message me :L

Also I now have no front wipers either :L however I have a wonderful water mark right across the windscreen where I squirted it and couldn't clear it :L
Fun times!!
Xx

This is why we love the little cars!
I'm 99% sure my spare engine is bare block - I'll check the garage tomorrow for you though.

If you attach 12v to them you can get then to open and close meaning you can then squirt injector cleaner all the way through them :) removes a fair bit of crap

What he said, I just flicked the wire on the battery as injectors usually wouldn't be on for very long...
You could see when they clear up as the spray pattern becomes regular, I flushed them out afterwards with fuel as I'm told the injector cleaner is kinda harsh.
I found it easier to do the whole rail with injectors installed cycling 1 injector at a time.
Don't spray anything near the battery where you're creating sparks arcing...

It keeps sticking and has been cleaned already :(
Ed (love whisky)
Is posting me some so all is good :) hopefully have her working for longer than a week :L xx

Same cylinder Chloe? Seems odd you keep having injector issues maybe something further back causing them to fail

If its the same cylinder I'd be concerned about their wiring

It's one thing after another ATM... It's hard to explain... Wiring seems fine...
It's like I can feel it starting to go... Then I open the throttle fully and it comes back fine then it'll bog down and come back.....
But it's gone completely now :L The spare injector that went in was a old one that had been sitting in the shed for about a year getting damp :L
That was the last spare I had though....
Hopefully the new injectors will just solve this issue as she runs great when shes using all four :L xx

Little update :)
Swapped the injector out for one that ed sent me :) fingers crossed that's good now :) going out tomorrow so will know then :)

So after doing that I thought I'd have a look at why my front wipers don't work... Fuse was fine so moved on... Had a look at the wirering and very quickly found the culprit :L

1460297682945.jpg

It's a Little crusty :L
So ive done a temporary bodge to fix it for now... Well I say temporary there's a very high chance it will stay like that just might neaten it up :L
1460297874426.jpg

Ive extended the wirering and spade connected it inside the motor plug :)
They work now... However ive lost the extra fast wipe setting :L
But two settings is better than none :D
Xxx

Yeah I know I'll have another play when I have time and pull the stalk out to :)
It's completely wrapped in tape so we shall see how well it holds :L should be fine :) xx

New injector works a treat :) it's so nice to having her drive well again :) I for the first time in a while really, enjoyed driving her :)

So as shes working, treated her to
Her new wheel :)
