My long promised blog

Nice progress! Thought you were tig welding now? Surely easier for the exhaust? You use srainless wire in your mig? I struggled big time with that when I tried it!

I am indeed but for the sake of simplicity I stuck to mig under the car im ok with the tig but not confident enough to be laying under cars :) that said tig is soon to be replaced by a much nicer machine with hf start as a bonus.
Ever since the final jigsaw piece in the mig was replaced, wire liner, it's ran beautiful ever since hence the welds above being back to optimum. Should of changed it a year ago at least but live n learn

I use 0.8mm 316L stainless wire when doing stainless anything leaves a lovely finish imo, remembering it pings afterwards though evades me
I even ran it on co2 only gas with surprising results too :)

Nice tip! Might try changing mine as its a bit temperamental.
SS should be done with pure argon reslly. Otherwise you introduce more carbon into the metal and it will rust (talking food grade tig rules here tbh).

Aye. Its on my recommended guide as no more than 5% co2 in any mix gas. But I couldn't complain with the finish :)

Definitely give it a go. I've been pulling my hair out for ages replacing everything, even spent several days practicing again. Change of liner made a huge difference
Also tip type makes a difference too, the sharper "cone" nosed ones seem tobe better but that may be a manufacturer quality thing :)

Tried these on

Made a new wheel cover for my celica. The other was damp and cracked. The details count on this car to me

Made a "bay cage" for a volvo too

Same as a strut brace except it triangulates the whole bay for that bit extra. Better for FWD cars

Wing braces are ok (not seen a K11) the A-pillar and inner wing assembly is plenty tough enough on a K10

I was think the Micra's are very well ties in to the wing area and chassis legs. Thought it would be adequate. How would you test though? Camera, stick a ruler on it and watch the flex?

Don't test a car you wanna keep is all I'd say. But they only strengthen the upper inner wing. Which takes next to no load anyway from what I can see

Well the £4/500 cost for HANS eats into the modifications fund, so I have no idea... The WOLDS Rally was cancelled as well so I've got no rallies till December. Will need to book some
I'd been meaning to ask where you were gonna head when I read it

Yea I know :( lack of entries

Get some track days planned too :)

Guess who's back

I haven't been far. I haven't been lurking neither I had all but dropped off the grid here

Most of you know my frustration with Facebook page and the events that followed. I've heard a few stories of some rather odd ideas of what n why these happened as well as what happened after like it was something important. But that's the past I'll let it stay that way and leave folk to their opinions

Anyway, present day, the Facebook page (no disrespect to anyone) has gone from bad to worse its simply a horrible community to be even associated to. The things I hear even now I get messaged about, which is great people believe they can come to me, but I can't help.

So what's your point I hear you say. Well I'm back here. It's two fold. Firstly in conversation with someone, being the Facebook pages agony aunt, they said "The MSC is a terrible community to be in you get no help from anyone they're all there to force their own opinion", to which I disagree. Facebook page maybe but the MSC no. Whilst disagreements have been had in the past, which I'll touch on shortly, I don't see that as the MSC. I see that as Facebook in general
I hear a lot of the forum being called quiet, dormant or empty. So I thought I'd come have a look see for myself after many months away. In time maybe, hopefully I can bear whatever influence these folk think I have to bring at least something back to the proper community

I know above I said I'd let the past be but I'd like to clarify a few things based on some things I've heard
- No my Intentions were not to divide the MSC. What ever divide arose was something long past due
- When saying enough was enough with the Facebook page. I didn't take people with me and set up my own group to spite the MSC. A) that group already existed B) its a co-establishment for more than car people
- The best one. No I didn't set up a stand at JAE to cause friction between the MSC. People have their own minds and do what they choose to do. I did it as a group called NineTwoFives wanted their stand and a few folks wanted theirs so we collaborated on that. What ever friction or negativity was drawn from that was drawn with no foundation and some unwarranted hatred on those people's part. I know it happened, I heard it happen, I saw it happen however I didn't drop to that level
- Yes there is a few group chats floating round on Facebook for the sole purpose of backstabbing. I'm aware of it, I don't much care
- No there's no bad blood between me and James. At least if there is he hasn't told me. Our stand at JAE packed up early Saturday evening instead of joining the rush leaving Sunday but I was convinced to stay by a few MSC folk and I glad I did

Hope that's cleared a few things up. Some might disagree, that's up to you to hold that grudge of false information

That over and done with onto the future
I won't be catching up with the forum, there's literally thousands of notifications for me to look at. And I'm not doing it.
I'm not updating my blog with much interesting but all will become clear why in coming weeks
So why am I here. To stamp out the atmosphere people create in their minds with this 'Me vs the MSC' battle they think is going on. Even if it breaks one barrier and gets another membership I'll consider it a success
