On the rallies we regularly , intervals in hours wd40 to clear our and lube the bearings. The WD is a pants long term lube, but clears the **** out. Spherical bearings/rose joints are not suited to road use and need maintaining. I would suggest a heavy grease maybe with a protector cap to limit foreign debris.

Just realised how much of a twat I sounded then lol. It was more meant as, that's pants ur shiz is breaking, maybe with the new stuff you can get a bit more life haha

I've probably had them on for say 1k miles, including some hard use on rough rallies... One side is just starting to get a bit stiff. I'll be changing them soon (or selling up :p)

That damper won't be here for a while. BC sort their sea order out each Friday and it'll take 2 weeks to arrive from there

The manifold we can create whenever but we'll need a small supply of bends to make do :)

They've lasted awhile now under daily & track use for 5yrs with these covers which is brill but yeah these bearings only have a limited mtbf.

Will pack em with grease n now already have these printed top mount caps to keep crap out :)

On mine tis odd that the drivers offside pillowball has worn loose. Woulda thought it'd be the harder working nearside that goes over potholes, drains, high loaded clockwise tracks, etc.

Ah crap, twas thinking of making it to Blyton on 6_7th June or donnington but that's very close risk of a set back :/
Although it's just a 10min swap.

Turbo mani, we'll need a lasercut head flange, I'll measure how big the ports r and assess the available space. Wanna get it done soon really cos I'll be popping down south on Sun.

Was thinking of making a rear x-brace too.

Shall I pop down tomorrow n over next few days we make a start on those whilst also sorting out how I can help out?

reinstalled the coilover top mount, topped up oil but then noticed the printed catch can top has popped off

DSC00605.JPG

the PU sealant ain't enough to bond the plastic onto the slippery lid and the oil vapour simply works it way through the join till it separates, so I'll reprinting it with screw holes to mechanically hold it together while the sealant does the sealing

went to pickup the discs, spoke to the machinist guy rather than the lady this time, he says £40 cos didn't take long as he thought, well that softens the blow
tis round bout 253mm +/- 0.5mm

wirebrushed the surface rust off the hub face and applied another new strip of tape to centre the disc

new discs are 26mm thick while the old grooved ones 25.7mm (bout 91.5% left)

the used pads (top) sanded flat till the copper flakes appear (bottom)

Any reason you've moved away from grooved disks Paul?

very rapid pad wear.

on road they roughen up the predator pad face.
on track when they get red hot, it's a flippin cheese grater. wore out the new pads to bare metal after 1.5 days of blyton park.

only 11 horn was working tday and found that one of the connector has snapped off

IMAG2169.jpg

so crimped some new ones on

IMAG2170.jpg

brakes ready to bed

IMAG2171.jpg

gradually warmed up the brakes on country roads progressively braking from higher speeds with higher force, where I find my left leg is wayy stronger than my right cos of the heavy clutch, so can left brake till it locks but my weak throttle leg can't :p
can really notice the difference in braking traction between a drier smooth tarmac and a dark damp patch where the front or rear end tends to lock, so twiddle the bias dial.

worked the brakes hard till it stinks of burnt electronics/cooked brakes then cooled on a cruise home

but after getting them really hot I started to notice a rattly, rumbly, knocking noise matching wheel speed & steering shaking. oh gawd is the caliper loose n hitting the wheel or is the wheel loose?
pulled over and check with ratchet, yup the heat has loosened the front wheel nuts as the fresh powdercoat melts and the studs expand. retightened em.

so yeah whenever the wheels get really hot, best recheck the wheel nuts or they'll fall off :D

rear pads bedded

IMAG2172.jpg

fronts kinda bedded, hard to see in dark

IMAG2173.jpg
IMAG2174.jpg

front alloys all baked with hard brake dust now

Could be a bit too strong on the lacquer might be what made them peel in the first place.

I think it'll be ok cos it's powder coated n never melted the original paint.

Only reason the spare Rota's I got off eBay was already peeling was cos the previous owner had badly hand spray painted it with acrylic cans with poor prep.

Carb cleaner could also work out more expensive in the long run... iirc the fallout was £12 but I've had no end of uses out of it, I've always thought carb cleaner does not go very far.

Aye at £8 a can and it quickly evaporates away. I'll get some fallout remover after a trip to Andy's tday ;)

I was printing a new catchcan top but would take 3-4hrs plus assembly so instead I simply drill some screw holes, superglue the existing ports/sealant back onto the lid and screw together solid

it holds so now I can pack up n goto andys

hi guys n gurls. it's been afew missing days of updates cos I'm just personally in a right old emotional wreck that's affecting me deep.
now I know I shouldn't be posting personal stuff here cos it's a car forum but tbh it's my only outlet. I don't expect sympathy or anything, I'm just expressing myself and tis prob just a timestamp at a point of my life on this blog for the record.

long story short in bold below vvv

so a friend I knew few yrs back had recently broke up with her bf after few yrs together.
I txted and called her making sure she's alright, listening to her story how she was never complimented n stuff which simply made her feel worthless. I was so upset by how she was treated, tis the opposite of what u expect from films/novels etc
tried to comfort her by expressing what I thought of her all along. back then whilst she was already with bf I obviously didn't ask her out cos I'm not that sorta bloke who intrudes. spilled me heart over how beautiful she was inside & outside n how imho she was my ideal type compared to all my prev ones, she returned the compliments. maybe I got too carried away.

we were overdue a long meetup for awhile, we wanted to meet up and she suggested twas her bday coming up, shweet I made her a prezzy n all. and she said woulda luv to pop up to mine in future, I suggested the trackdays I'll be doing in june and she said perfect. talked bout going roadtrips or flatmates together etc.

she mentioned that after leaving this long term bad relationship, she had forgotten who she was, still had feelings for him that she really wants to get rid off and wanna rediscover herself before another relationship. I was on the same boat. K maybe I didn't pickup the signs she was more after friendship from me at the mo (cos she didn't wanna ruin our friendship) whereas I was after gf since she's kinda available (this misunderstanding leads to later on).

she was busy at work with few txts till the weekend. I was really looking forward to driving down for her bday to hug n give prezzy n get to know her over few days before having the balls to ask her out.
that dream shattered when friday night she had a gr8 night out after work, asked what she gotup to, she hanged out with friends n talked to a guy who she really liked for awhile.....
then the penny dropped like a sledge hammer
I was really attracted to her n was hoping to have a chance to work it out but I think she wasn't feeling the same (she couldn't rudely tell me oobviously) and friendzoned me as the rebound guy
ah shytee:confused::(

long story short she rejected me.
on top of being dumped by temporary gf lisa in Jan, losing TG and quitting my job in March, losing money, and now being rejected by a girl I really facied, it's no friggin surprise that 2015 for me is turning out to be the worst year of my ENTIRE life with everything turned upside down. I'm so sad, angry, frustrated, maybe very depressed at myself and it's affecting me physically too with loss of appetite, constant bloated stomach, very tired, very low motivation, constant daydream staring at the thought I'll be a lonely single & broke old chinese virgin lol (gawd the old -ve depression thoughts has a heavy punch eh)
maybe girls are just not into a emotional nice wuss like me ttbh (chris I can hear you say Man Up ffs lol) but I can't change who I am and tis probably fate.

said I'm still her friend, my opinions bout her remains n I'll still send her that prezzy I made for her but now I'm trying hard to forgive her n move on from this mood.

neway romance movie stuff over, lets resume car blog below...

Man up is just a self motivator, not something to say you are worth less than a 'man' of many man'ness lol. Like we discussed before, tus true that nice guys finish last, but it does eventually pay off.

I feel the same as you do with regards to stuff, we have had long enough to chat about it at jae. But man, success in life, at a personal level is what makes you awesome. You are great at what you do, and people admire that, you need to believe in what you do, cause everyone will follow. The ladies and men all follow strong characters and you are one, you just need to feel that you are a boss.

yeah I was reading into (and probably too much to confuse my head) how/when to ask lass out after breakup, ladys fancying badboy vs good boy (which concluded they initially luved the challenge of a dominant/risky/abusive/exciting alpha male but then settles for the good guys as u say)
but man does it hurt when tbh so many factors are against me hooking up with western lasses, can only dream on

mindset is a powerful asset, tis just at the mo my confidence had a right kick in the knackers after reflecting on all these past setbacks/failures/rejections this year.
before I got into girls recently & had some sort of a job, the car thing was going alright n thus I excel with the right space. adding girls just clouded the mind. I think I just need time to regather myself, but obviously in time for nurburgring in july.

thx chris ur a gr8 support ;)

we measured & welded up some boundary placeholders on the jig to represent the fixed dipstick & inlet pipe positions n work out the complex plumbing paths. (inlet pipe is wrong height cos I misread the ruler # :p phoned andy to correct it)

DSC00639.JPG
