K11 BlackMask from Finland

K11 Blackmask
Hello all, decided to share some story about the K11 which is my daily driver at the moment.

Starting point was this spring ,unregistered because the small crash. Paid 500eur from it at this state.

Just a standard 1.3 -97 ,about 135tkm at the clock and full service history.

LyttynaamaK11.jpg

Then after few months took it under the hammer and started working, some rust issues suprise suprise.
Otherwise no rust anywhere, luckily has been rust protected when new.

Getting a new face.... little bit of modifications too. I can´t resist them :p

K11hood.jpg

After the front was back in shape and order, i started installing the stereos...a big weak spot of mine :)

-Alpine head unit
-Infinity basscube II with extra 4channel amp module
-Focal 6.5 2-way speaker set in original places at front
-Spl dynamics 6.5 midbass x2 on the rear shelf

+remote controlled central locking kit.

Small sound deadening was made too, also S-model meters got there along with front seats and door cards.

Focal installs were pain in the ass, little big too heavy set for the original places.

Finally this summer got it registered and ready to rock! I think it´s never gonna be everything done :)

Coming up some engine mods and lowering springs/coils ,as soon as the snow is gone next spring ;)

Something already bought from japan.

Ganador.jpg

Oh and installed some bigger ga16de injectors last weekend, now running with the RE85 ethanol fuel...sooo nicely cheap compared to the normal fuel prices here.

I´ll make other thread of my other micras soon...some exiting stuff there also ;)

Some pics of the current state....

Interior peek

Teddy gear knob, oh so lovely!

IMG_5277_zpsb8c5a660.jpg

Trunk loaded, toolbox missing but you rarely need it in a K11 ;) ....better keeping it along still, you´ll never know where you get into.

IMG_5278_zps6f6bff62.jpg

Finally, after a bit of cleaning.... a tidy rear. Would need some wax but maybe next weekend i´ll got the time to get into it.

IMG_5281_zpse3b2c78f.jpg

Some freshly painted winter beater wheels coming up next weekend also, i´ll be posting pics as i got them rolling!
Extra high beams also coming up. Those may help to keep the front end getting knocked by mooses and other random thingies.

Thanks! Such a pain as i dont have any garage here in helsinki where i could make things happen :p

Really would like a full color change to the micra also...maybe some glossy deep black or bright shiny yellow hmmm.

Nice so far. I especially like the purple rev counter. :)

Thanks! Purple meters we have here in those rev versions....And the 1.0 S the only K11 with the rev counter here.

So they are a bit hard to get into :) ....i bought whole car for parts to get those sporty special interior bits like seats etc.
But sadly no front fogs in them.

Some updates, last weekend started with a nice waking up in saturday!
No respect for others property around here, wish i´d got them caught and teach a lesson.

Anyway, hanged the license plate to the front and wired the afr gauge with separate power switch and fuse box so i can add some more hazardous electronics later ;)
And new drivers side mirror, painted matt black (was originally horribly chrome thingy).

I´m not sure i like the the mirror style anyhow, and cannot use the wind deflectors with them without heavy modification :(

IMG_5295.jpg

Oh, week back i got the winter wheels on. Was a bit pain to paint them when the weather was below freezing point :) ,cold garage is so nice (not the one in the picture).

IMG_5286.jpg

Finally, got my hands on Mangels chrome rims....they were so cheap that i could not resist!
They are in pretty good shape also, luckily been stored in grease at some barn.
Can´t wait to be polishing them :)
We´ll see how they fit to the micra with lowering and some suitable tires.
Thinking about some hubcaps to those also but don´t really know how they´ll look like that.

Sorry about the crappy pictures and dirty car, the camera was this time my old Ixus.

I´ve been running too RE85 all summer, had to change back to 95E cos cold starts are pain. Have you got any cold start problems with those injectors?

Yeah the cold start is a bit hard (was aware of that) , might change back to normal gas for the winter....will be problems if it gets really cold and you loose the beforehand heating possibility for a some reason.

One friend promised last weekend to get me some cheap 98 fuel from russia , so would be cheapy anyway :)

Read somewhere that injectors size is known by the colour. Last winter I changed them cos one broke down. I had white injectors, now black. Got them from one mechanic who said they are Sunny 1.4s iirc. Somewhere was said blacks are 1.6s. What colour is on yours?
And another question, how did you connect AFR? Bought one (from Biltema, thanks for advice :)), didn´t measure yet lambda wires (there´s 2 white and 1 black wire), thought it´s easier to ask first.:D

Mine injectors are black, and from ga16de 1.6 litre almera/primera/sunny.
The meter goes to the black lambda wire. i just connected it between lambda and the connector plug with abiko´s and shrink rubber tube. Heard somewhere that welding is not a good option for some reason.
I made maybe too hifi installation with it, new positive wire from battery + own fusebox and switch...but the fusebox has some empty slots so i can use it to other extra installations too.
I hate those robbery connectors so i make the wiring good ;)

Nice work so far! Nice to see another micra saved from the scrap heap. Do the 1.6 injectors fit and plug strait in? no messing about?

Well in engine there is coming a better exhaust manifold and rest of the exhaust/afr/magnecor race plugleads/earthening kit/sport cams/ga15 or tweaked original tb/cai.

Maybe i can get couple extra horses with those :)

also bear in mind that stoich on e85 is different to stoich on petrol eh (9.76:1 instead of 14.7:1) and advance the timing (extra 15 deg ?) to account for the slower burning, and to make use of the e85,s very high octane :)

Good point Frank, thanks, you´re the man! :)
Now running on petrol again cos haven´t figured out yet how to solve cold start problems. Maybe timing change would help a bit. Some mates have "cable/brain sets" to injectors installed, to give richer mixture for starting with E85.

i think winter e85 is supposed to be nearer e70 eh, so some neat petrol mixed with it should help with your low temps in finland. and with a hike in compression and spark timing to suit, you should see some savings (and power gains too :))

Have heard same thing too about E70. With a mixed petrol/E85 works fine but I´ve been lazy to change filling pistols while fuelling up .
One fella took slice of his Almera´s cyl.head to hike compression, told that works better now. Maybe I´ll do that someday, brings just a bit of headache with the chain. Although have seen your postings about chain adjuster mods, so shouldn´t be impossible job. Or is there easy piston change option available?

Yeah i have advanced the timing Frank ;)

And to Japi ,i have solved the cold start problem by using 20-25% mix of normal gasoline. Also if you can use the block heater (lohkis) , then it will be fine with the re85 at least when it´s not yber cold ;)

I have now been driving 10thousand km and no problems :)

Sensed some sloppiness with acceleration so re-welded the maf and maybe it is a bit better...or i am just fooling myself ;)
Oh and i changed the thermostat also, but really not much help. Still going a bit cool but i guess it is just because of the cold weather and maybe the RE85 makes it go a bit cooler too?
Got the original thermostat because sometimes the aftermarket ones are crappy.

Nothing really new with the blackmask, everything working nice. Was resting for a while because i was driving the galant ,but now the micra is back in the business and Bishi is taking a nap ;)

Coming up is gearbox change, main bearings are whining in the current one....been so all the time but they wont fix themselves ;) . Oil change did not really help at all. I think the K10 box would fit? I have good one from a 1.0 -87 and seems it has also a bit shorter ratios also. This current box has too long ratios for my taste :p

Shot a pic of this one when visiting the garage after work today, washed it yesterday and luckily the roads have dried up mostly so hopefully will stay clean few days.

Broke the co-drivers door hadle this morning :p , doors were a bit frozen shut because the wash and -15 degrees outside. Did not even use much force to pull the door open and crack!....the hadle was in my hand :)

The same handle is also broken in the super s , so maybe there is some weak point in co-drivers ones :D. Oh well they are cheap at ebay.

Made some oil change about a week ago , once again used the Castrol Magnatec 5w40 . Old ones were quite watery after 7tkm , i think the re85 has something to do about it. Now runs smooth again ;)

Also fixed the rust protection from under the car with wire brush and Tectyl ML spray. Checked also the underside of car , no jobs to be done there :). Have been hearing some noises from the rear end but thats nothing major i think...the original rear shocks are just coming to an end.

In top of all that installed msc sticker too, sadly no picture of that :p

It was for sure a black monday, blackmask story has become to an end...or that is what seems most likely at the moment. Front end smashed, was not my fault but that does not help the feeling.

i am so sorry to hear this. hope you are ok? what you going to do with this car? are you going to repair again?
Dont really know if i have the interest to do it the second time...and yeah no injuries, only crushed steel :) . It is possible that i´ll make it as a spares car, works still fine as i was at work with it. Body is little bit bended this time i´m afraid :p

I´ll maybe add some picture here later on.

Good to hear you Ok. If you're not gonna repair it again, you can take rear bits to your red car??

I had same problem, cut the parts 1/3 off the vents and welded some steel underneath them.

Just mentally shaked :p .....and yes those rear bits would be in nice condition to be cut off, just have to wait a bit so the insurance guy comes to check the car again. Hoping to get decent money and keep the car. Went to the autokeskus today after work to show it and they will not repair it for sure.

do it yourself... beat it with a feking hammer.. that will give it a distinct look :D

Yea of course ill use my own hands ;) ...some cable ties and a big hammer, what else do you need? Oh duck tape also ;)

I am starting to think that it has some kind of curse or a crash magnet in front, wants to be a slant nose so badly.
