Red GX 'Betty'

Hello fellow micra lovers, this is my red gx 1l that i bought back in April 2012. I bought her for £480 with 120k miles on the clock. I thought its about time i started a blog so here it goes :). The day i got her:

She is a real nice clean car! Few dings here an there but its what to be expected for an oldish car. I then bought some super s clocks off of jasperfox on here, they already had a green led conversion:

Ignore the date and time haha, whilst i had them apart changing the mileage over i painted the needles green:

Then came the lowering:

Setup is: matiz front legs with spring perch dropped on the front and cut springs with corsa dampers on the rear (Bought the front struts and rear shocks of leon on here). The ride is lovely and gives really nice lows! Then I de wiperd it and put a pre facelift boot handle on (Thanks jay for the grommet):

Then some stickers:

Thanks for looking :).

looking good, suspension set up has it sitting nice and low. quite surprised actually. did you have to do much work to make it all fit?

Thanks :)! No not really tbh just gotta use the micra strut top mount drilled out and file out one of the bottom strut hole because they are slightly closer together on the matiz strut.

Wow, that's such a sick build, so impressive for relatively little mods. I don't think I'd have the balls to go THAT low! Love your work.

Cheers, some people on here have bigger balls than me hahaa. I don't get how they can be that low because mine pretty much scrapes everywhere lol.

Little bit of rake, I likes it.

Reminds me of mine from early 2012. How time flies :(

Your about as low as you can go without having too many problems.
For about a month I went as low as I could with lower profile tyres but even on new surfaced roads I kept hitting the roll bars and the slightest bump in the road hit the underside...

I think some tasteful 13x7J on some lower profile tyres and this will be a great example of how to do it right without going mad....

155/70/13 to 165/55/13 will lower the car by around 17mm too iirc :)

Thanks :)

My tyres scrub on the arches on full lock atm but apart from that all is good.
Really? I wont be going any lower then :(

Thanks its just trying to find a different set of alloys that arent already on another micra. Was looking at ats classics but seen them on another micra already.

Ahh right thanks for the info :)

Good luck finding a set.
All the nice sets are victims of their own success.

Suit almost any car but are on almost any car :(

Yeah its hard to find something nice but unusual. Was also looking at BMW e30 bbs style wheels but karl has them now ... Might just get a set of them anyway :p

May I suggest.....these. Will take a bit of fitting, but hey you'll be the only one with them - because there's no likelihood of me managing it.

They do look good but i would surley need over arches with them and i dont really want to go down that route tbh :/
Also I just want to tell you something if you do think about getting them. I was told the k11 have same PCD as k10 which is 100 but the wheels your looking at has a PCD of 101.6 you can have them drilled out to fit, or file them yourself but you would need something called wobble nuts and thats the only thing you can have with them, also you might need some spigot rings to make it hub central and you still might get steering wobble. I know this because I'm having this problem with mine and its making me think about buying new alloys with a PCD of 100 not something thats been made to fit.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, will bare that in mind :)

The wobble isn't that bad, its only in the steering wheel.. no wobble in the wheels when driving and only happens at 65-75mph then you speed out of it, but it can get annoying :p but if I knew about this, defo would have change my mind about the wheel type :( its just one big learning curve I'm afraid but thought I'd let you know :)

I think that wold really get on my nerves traveling on motorways . I will be looking for 4x100 in that case then or get some hub adapters?

I'm driving with minilites 13x7 et-7 101.6 PCD drilled out to 100 PCD from a company and bought hub central spigots rings and still having a problem... maybe the spigot rings need an extra 0.1mm or something but its putting me off. Plus you can't have any nice looking wheel nuts, stuck with the wobble nuts (depends if you care about that) You can drive without the wobble nuts but it will wear the alloy down and became dangerous and not recommended.

Them mini lites look amazing on your car (Y). I do want some red d1 spec wheel nuts. Thanks for your input everyone, given me lots to think about :)

I was running 101.6 wheels without wobble bolts, only hub-centric spigots and never had any problems, wheels were balance and torqued up properly.

If you're getting vibrations through the steering wheel I'd suggest getting your wheels balanced

They are... only time I have a problem is when they are on the car. They've been balanced at 2 different places 80miles apart and both say they are 100% balanced. So I've been putting it down to the wheels being 101.6 and drilled out. Plus everyone told me to stay clear of using anything but wobbles nuts

I never said I was running drilled wheels, my compos are 4x101.6 and I was running them without wobble nuts. If you're getting vibrations through your steering wheel and the wheels are balanced try your stock wheels and see if the vibration is still there

Oh thought your PCD was 100, sorry must have misread something. I will give it ago next time I go home. Cheers anyway dude

Tiny update. Had a clunky grinding sort of noise coming from the front passenger side lately so i took the wheel off today to have a look and the clip that holds the brake pipe in onto the strut had come off so the brake pipe was just floating around so i got the cable ties out...
DSCF3631_zps9bc3dd24.jpg

Secure for now but im gonna get another clip soon. Im also gonna need some new front tyres because of the negative camber...
DSCF3633_zpsf07f6f93.jpg

Just legal imo, What do you guys think?
Also shes coming up to the 130k mark!!
