You racing ovals?? for 1/4 mile oval in rosegreen here in ireland i use the boxy k10 4 speed gearbox on the cg10, works perfectly....i just get valve bounce at the very last moment before its time to back off for the turn, according to rev counter thats 7900rpm (but probably closer to 7500). You need the the k10 4 speed clutch plate but need the early cg10 flywheel.
Only problem is that the gap between 1st and 2nd is quite big, i find i have to slip the clutch to keep the revs up when going from 1st to 2nd off the startline. Tough little gearbox too, have not broke one yet (although the cg13 with 12:1 cr and bike carbs with 270 cams and custom exhaust manifold that will be done soon might change that...lol )

to turbo or new lump :/ hmmm
2nd in 1275 is 1.955. 2nd from the 1348 is what you want at 1.782. although I see the 1348 has the same ratios as the from 2000 on 1.0L apart from having a 3,895 final drive.
does this mean me bolting a cga3 to my coilpack 1.0l box has no difference but 5th gear?

to turbo or new lump :/ hmmm
No it means instead of having a 998cc engine you now have a 1348cc engine
i mean like acceleration or not as quick top end speed, i didnt word that very well sorry :/ lol i aint that stupid well i hope not seeing as im a mechanic lol

which in turn does what is what im asking frank? is it worth getting a 1.4 box?

A taller diff has to be preferable on a road car. only you can answer that question really, if you want a bit of economy and a more relaxed motorway cruise then yes, if you want to tear about flat out using full revs then perhaps no.

to turbo or new lump :/ hmmm
could this along with the need for a new maf explain the ****ty fuel consumption as i generally just do short start stop journeys?

Those ratios posted above, I assume the diff ratios are different in each gearbox, be interesting to know " whats what ".Also are differentials swapable between k10 and newer Bubble micra s. even knowing whats the lowest diff . that will fit into a K10 WOULD HELP .4.05;1 seems to be the lowest I can find .

so the 2nd gear in the k10 gearbox is longer than the k11 2nd gear?

hmmm :( no difference in the second gear so mate! thanks for youre time , one last qs , do you know the longest second gear that will actually fit in a 1998 model 1.0 , and ratios too mate? Thanks very much mate im badly stuck

98 was the changeover year for 1.0,s eh nate (pre-facelift type 41 or facelift type 30) you might be best to fit the type 30 box if yours is pre-face, the 4.65 diff one, and use 3rd gear ?

i dont get where your going with this, what size of an oval are you racing? how long are the straights and what revs are you currently pulling at the end of the straight?? The k10 box with 3.8 final drive is ideal for a big oval like tipperary, i dont know of any tracks with longer straight where a longer 2nd/final drive would be needed. more info on the track you are racing is needed.
What problems are you encountering?? and what work is done to your car

So if we come across one of these smaller lighter k10 early k11 gearboxes then how do we identify when it has the 4.65 final drive? please

nah, the 98 to 2000 1.0 is the 4.65 type 30, matt humphris said to count the crownwheel teeth down the speedo hole iirc.
fwiw i counted all the gear teeth on my stripped type 41 box..........haynes is correct :)

Ah, so now i see the difference between type 41 and type 30 ratios, and the type 30 has a 4.65 final drive. What is the final drive in the type 41 then?

Hi all. I am new to the Micra Scene and I write from Italy. I recently got hold of a 1994 1.3 Super S and was wondering if somebody put a different gearbox to shorten the gears and improve acceleration, since basically top speed isn't really a key feature. Would the gearbox of a 1.0 fit p&p and make a noticeable difference? What year/model would be recommended in case to proceed with the swap? Thanks!

You can fit the facelift (98-00) 1.0 gearbox and flywheel. You need to swap the speedo drive but other than that it should be plug and play. The box is shorter and the flywheel is lighter.
