K11 Micra won't start? Any suggestions?

Left the headlights on overnight the other day by accident and then when I went back to the car, everything was out.

When I turned the ignition to the first step none of the lights came on and it couldn't even remember the time. So I jump started the car and and that worked fine and then after an hour or so of leaving it running all the lights worked and so did the radio.

I then turned off the car and tried to start the engine without jump starting and the lights went on and then dimmed and there was just a constant clicking.

Has been doing this for a while even after leaving the car idle, and running for a good 4 hours or so.

Any suggestions would be helpful?

Thanks in advance,

you need to check that its charging ok first will (14v) and nothing is draining it, then new battery needed ?

true but if it was fine untill it was left over night and the battery fully discharged, if its old it may not be able to recover or hold a charge.

but as frank said check the alternator if thats okay

charge the battery fully (out the car)

then see if it has a strong start, but if its weak then id say the battery is faffed

(i like making up new words for stuffed, ####ed etc tis fun lol)

My mum did that on hers and the battery was useless afterwards. New battery and all was good.

Remember, ordinary lead-acid batteries REALLY don't like going completely flat, it knackers the plates inside. Looks like a new battery unfortunately .

+1 I would say your battery is fragged once they get dragged down below 85% capacity generally they will not recover full charge.

sometimes with a lead acid you can gently trickle charge them but from your comments I would say it's new battery time

yeh but if it was the ignition switch then it wouldn't even make the clicking sound, would it? :fwn

cliking round the front starter area would sugest a battery weak or starter problem
igniton switch going, threw up a nats fault on the diagnostic machine and can lead to some strange noises
and i swear i looked at my hand when turning the ignition and it was like invisible for a moment:laugh:
