J's Be-1 :D

Hi all!

I've been looking for one of these for a while now and finally am proud owner of one!

My plans are to create a little monster and enter it into the Autosalon here in Brisbane Australia in October. I know the time frame I set for myself is a little short but I think it can be done.

At the moment I'm planning to drop a SR20 under the hood. I believe the engine bay is the same as the k10 micra and its great to see that the SR20 has been fitted to the k10 before. I want to keep it NA and stay away from turbo as I figure traction will be a huge issue even with the NA in the engine bay.

I'm currently looking for a workshop here who can engineer me a monstrosity. I spent all day today on the phone and have come up with a few leads to chase up tomorrow. I originally planed on tackling this project hands on with a few mates but I really want this to be a legally engineered street car.

Will post updates as I go!

Manual indeed! Great to drive! Didn't really matter as the motor and transmission will be replaced.

I was considering a ma09ert however it is quite difficult to come across in Australia and there is very little support. SR will make more power in its NA form anyways... At least I hope so :)

It's finding to be rather difficult to source parts and so I think most of this car will be custom. My mirror cracked today as I closed the door a bit too hard D:! It is unlikely that I will find a replacement and so I will be looking for new mirrors to suit or have a new mirror panel made up somewhere if I can find someone to do so.

I have located a suitable workshop for the engine conversion and hopefully I can get it in there asap. I am considering fitting power steering and keeping the air conditioning in but only time will tell how much room we have to work with.

Suspension is another issue which needs to be addressed and am finding it rather difficult to source some off the shelf parts. I have booked my car in for a inspection tomorrow at fulcrum so they can tell me what will fit. Looking for a front strut brace and rear stabilizer also but am having very little luck.

As the k10 was not released in Australia, there is not a great deal of support for this chassis. Still I have my fingers crossed and hope this project will see realization.
