All it says is GA16 nothing else, but I think I've sussed it now. Ed put me on the right road which I should of known. Its got the dizzy that's no good for the conversion i am doing; the ecu type not carbs.
What I need to know is if there's a dizzy out there off any older Nissans that fits the GA16 which is just electronic ignition and got the vacuum port attached..

bob, i need to know what engine you have got?

do you have the ga16de lump?

ive got an idea of the wires but i couldnt get a picture to explain it,

on the dissy you have four wires means you dont have a inbuilt cas sensor

1 wire goes to the tacho on the dissy

on the coil the black and blue is a ignition feed

but ill grab the manual tomorrow night and if you have msn we could talk over that as its quicker

i stripped the interior for weight reduction to go faster. I used a bag of sand to see affects to handling, i dnt carry a bag of sand in the boot everywhere i go!!! LOL

its a diffrent head but you could try a GA16S or something like that, it will be trial and error, CA16S, CA18S, CA20S etc. all have them

The ST has more power standard than the 1.6 and exactly the same chassis/safety. Its probably just as heavy too since it has so much strapped to it.

i remeber seeing the kerb weight for the ST and its quite a bit more than a standard super s IIRC so it must be the engine that causes the extra weight i dont think a 1.6 is going to ruin the handling to much, bottom line is no ones done it so everyones just assuming for all we know it could make it better we wont know till its done ;)

I may be forced to sell it as i need the room so if anybody is interested in it make me a private offer all the hard work is done just needs its eletrics, drive shafts and exhaust as you no the shell is very good solid with no rust anywere,o and the suspension has been uprated with new gas shocks with lowering springs.
i was going to have a inlet manifold made up for it to run on bike carbs which i do have as well.

Its amazing what you can do in a couple of hours with some flat steel and 4 bits of 2" exhaust pipe.

So could you make me a list to perform this conversion? I'm thinking of getting a ga16de from the scrap for $300 CAD low mileage! So from what I've seen the main thing you had to do was modify the engine mounts. Do you have to upgrade suspension/brakes/rad ? I'm probably going to keep the fuel injectors that come with the lump though. So obviously the fuel system is going to have to be modded. Wiring is obviously going to be different as well as well as the driveshafts, which you pointed out too... Any tips or comments?
