Micra won't start, and can't get bonnet open!

Morning all,

My mrs' 1996 K11 Vibe wouldn't start this morning :(

I have a 94 K11 Tropic which on occasion doesn't start and i have to pump the accelerator whilst the key is turned turning the starter motor, and eventually it starts.

Tried for 15 or so mins though on my Mrs' and it still wouldnt budge. Tried to open her bonnet to see if there was anything untoward....and it wouldn't open! the little black plastic catch is different on hers than on mine, and it appeared to be stuck fast.

Can anyone help out on any of the above please? I'm tempted to call in the breakdown service I'm still on which is my mum's policy but i've got a feeling they dont cover me if you're broken down at home.

Sorry for ranting guys i'm gutted here :(

The only way i know to open bonnet is to remove the grille then unbolt the latch, after you can get it to pop right but removing the grille when bonnet is fully closed isn't easy.

Sorry can't be more help

Sit in the car with you pulling the bonnet release back, and then get the missus to pull the bonnet open.

cheers I'll try that.

Is there anything you'd suggest looking at when i'm in there? Make sure the HT leads are all dry ?! I have no idea..

I had the same problem after my conversion, but doing what i said works. Was just not at thr right angle - but easily sorted.

Hmm - yea check all the leads and guff. Check that all the fuses are ok also. Will it bump start? If you can get it started then let it idle for about 5 mins then take it for a drive. Let it warm up for a bit then give it a bit of a blast to get it all moving again etc and then see what happens.

i was told by someone at work that if the car wont start put the car in 3rd gear or something and rock the car back and fourth and the starter motor will move onto the next tooth and should spin up if its just a missing tooth on the starter motor if this is any help

Yea- thats what i have to do with mine since i've got the Primera gearvbox. Starter sits about 100mm to far into the box - if you go into 2nd then rock it. Wait till it jums then clutch in and it should start (if its a starter problem)

Titch - Starting God haha :kungfu:
